Developers are Insulting Old Karma Mains
About 75% of the Karma players play her as Support, 20% as a Mage, and 5% as a Tank. Before the relaunch/VGU of Karma she was played as a Mage. Even around the time of the relaunch/rework, Morello said Karma was played more and a lot more fun to play as a Mage in the mid and top lane. There was a lot of negative feedback about her relaunch/rework pertaining to thematic problems like the removal of her fans and the kit itself.
Shortly after the relaunch/VGU, Ricklessabandon got his hands on Karma and removed her Shield Bomb. Other parts of Karma's kit were buffed, nerfed and changed to accommodate her new kit. Riot Game Developers, since the relaunch/VGU, have deliberately stripped Karma of everything that was beloved about her. The Development team shifted Karma from a Mage to a back-line Support. Karma went from a fun Battlemage with interactive abilities on allies, to a Support that sits in the back and mass shields everyone.
When I hear a new player telling us old Karma mains to move on, leave the game if you are unhappy, Karma was always a Support, no one cares about you anymore, stop creating threads, stop whining, and the Developers don't like you guys anymore, I just want to say har har. While you were in diapers, listening to Justin Bieber, watching Dora the Explorer, skating on those ridiculous wheelie shoes, and whatever else, I was working a part-time job while in college and playing League of Legends. Meaning, my hard earned money was being given to Riot Game Developers to build this game up to what it is today. If it wasn't for my, and so many other veteran players who donated their time, dedication and money to this company, you would not have a game to play. Some of you Game Developers probably wouldn't even have a job.
Let's get to the point of this thread though. For Game Developers like Meddler, Reav3s, NeuroCat, RicklessAbandon and so many others to make ridiculous decisions, accusations, comments, and constantly give excuses as to why Karma has yet to receive a rework or VGU to correct obvious mistakes made by the VGU/relaunch 5 years ago, is amazing. To give veteran Karma mains excuse after excuse as to why this one champion cannot have a single thing from her past kit, identity or art brought back is amazing. To prioritize work on champions like Ryze more than 6 times and make up excuses as to why popular and new champions constantly get large scale reworks, is amazing.
Problems with the rework:
- There has been literally no direct communication about Karma's exact problems. Over the years I have received lies, ridiculous comments from Meddler and Reav3s, and contradictory statements that have all been skewed. One Developer tells us the Karma VGU/relaunch was a mistake and she needs a new VGU to make Karma better. Another Developer tells me they will never work on Karma again because they don't have the funds to do it, but they will be prioritizing a mini-VGU/rework on champions like Ezreal and Ryze 7 times. Finally, we have a Developer who asked for feedback involving the rework of Karma 2018 and got literally nothing we asked for.
There is a massive divide between the Karma communities because of work that deliberately removed her Mage identity and continued to do so even after the VGU/relaunch. Developers cannot say she has been out for way to long as a Support and that is the only role she can be reworked for, when you have purposely made it that way. When you ignore the players that are adamant about certain things on the champion, it will come back to bite you. When you continue to ignore these players it just gets more and more intense.

Point blank, the rework is a massive failure because the original intentions of the VGU/relaunch didn't address Karma's direction and gameplay identity. To this day, Karma still has no direction. There is a massive disconnect with this champion's kit and gameplay identity. Is Karma an Artillery Mage, Support, Tank, Battlemage, or whatever else? No champion in this game can have a properly functioning identity or kit if they have no gameplay identity. The rework didn't address this about Karma and it will probably still be ignored.

Shifting power between Karma's Mantra has not worked. Buffing Karma's Mantra number wise, has not worked. Only giving Karma's Mantra W an ally mechanic will not work. History in itself has proven this time and time again. Karma's Mantra E was buffed and then nerfed. Karma's Q and Mantra Q have been number buffed more than anything else on her kit. Karma's lack of hard CC was addressed by a buff to Q. Karma's Mantra W has been buffed, reworked, tweaked, and then nerfed, parts of it removed, and reworked. The kit proves in itself that it isn't working and it hasn't been working since the relaunch/VGU.
What this new rework for Karma will do is shift her more towards Support and it will be the very reason almost everything in her kit will be nerfed again. Having no gameplay identity, unique mechanics on all of her Mantra, and adding more skill to the champion is the reason why Karma will always be a sub-par champion that remains in her current state. The kit and current Karma is just not working out. I know players love Karma's Mantra E, but it already exists in the game as two separate item actives. I know Karma players don't mind her Q and Mantra Q, but it is her only damage move and it is blocked by minions. Front loading more damage into Mantra Q will not solve the problem of the ability not taking advantage of a gameplay identity or being blocked by minions. Finally, the new Mantra W mechanic will be the sole reason why Karma will be in the same state Sejauni, Ryze, Kalista and so many other champions. Abilities and mechanics like the new Mantra W just require too much effort and coordination. Plus, the new Mantra W mechanic makes more sense for a champion like Zilean as opposed to Karma . . . who should be unlocking a champion's true POWER and not COOLDOWNS. ;/
