Just played a Gold ranked game with a new to ranked, unranked player on my team.....

Bobovich·12/12/2017, 1:15:41 PM·61 votes·4,942 views

They went 1/11 and ruined the game.

Simply no idea how to play.

Please, please Riot ..... will you accept the fact that these new players are gonna get slaughtered in ranked, and put them in matches at much much lower ELO.

I suggest low to mid Bronze is a good starting place, no disrespect to new players. I was Bronze when I started ranked, and I deserved to be there.

The middle ELO bracket is way too polluted with bad assignments of players to this ELO space. This issue needs addressing.

Agreed. Silver II ish mmr feels like fliping a coin, you can get the diamond smurf that a lot of times solo carries the game or the unranked fresh level 30 that doesn't know anything about the game... Can be frustrating at times. I know this helps getting rid of smurfs as they'll get out of silver and gold mmr really fast but there should be other methods...

He's level 40 you are Level 56... What personal level do you recommend a player to start playing rank at?

just asking because i out rank you and i am level 35.

(Below this line is a rant please just focus on above this line)

and also.. wtf man.. the season hasnt even started yet. this rank will hardly effect actually season rank. this is the off season. by your standard.. seriously .. when do you recommend the appropriate time for a player to play ranked or you just dont want someone who just starting their games in your game?

You are silver 1 and your MMR recommends you to be S3.. just an fyi. i know it says finished the season gold, but that is flex queue. if you need to be on a team with +3 people coordinated to carry you. i honestly recommend (this is from the heart advice man) do some soul searching and think about what you are saying. This mentality is absolutely the reason you are low elo.

And saying new players need to be below you? you dont want that.. i can promise you. the reason for starting players in upper silver elo is so the people who would basically face roll the lower elo players will not even have to deal with them. you have no concept of the people who make fresh accounts. you have no concept of the actual other side of the player base. you dont want those people in your games. i can be honest promise you that. if you ever get to upper plat lower diamond you will see those people. and if it wasnt for Riot making it easier to get to gold i bet against you even making it gold in S7 on your flex queue. Riot actually adjusted the ranking to make even lower gold covered in low elo players. i dont even know how you received as many up votes for this comment either.
and it was the players 2nd ranked game.. 3rd over all ..

there is a reason upper elo players make smurf accounts. because they hit that wall and just need to face roll some other people.

you are with the people you should be with. also that guy is. and you will continuously be with those people till you read/practice/learn from your mistakes. take some personal responsibility and get better.

i have a harder time in Flex than i do in regular because those half coordinated teams that i just so happen to get into are really no match for a full 5 man team. i have had a team just surrender because they arnt doing well. believe me it is the most frustrating thing being a support and carrying a game only to have a vote to surrender because i am a support. its not even about losing a game. some people just dont want a support to carry them. that is my biggest problem in flex.. the surrender vote. ADC's freaking out they dont get the kill. at least in regular rank i can mute them and the rest of the team just ignores the tears.. but low and behold in flex.. heaven forbid being a support main and carrying the game.

Learn to use what you have.. seriously. Some days you are the carry. Some days you just need to get on peoples back and ride it to the end.

And that game you are discussing .. it was basically Nid vs TF/Noct you should have spotted that and just fed off their weak. you seriously dont need to fight every chance you see. Some times the play is to just walk away.. you died under the enemy turret twice on top side. do some soul searching man.. know when to back off.

its the off season.. man.. i dont know what to say. stop dieing under the enemy tower. As far as your gripe about new players.. some days you just have to deal with them. take a break too.. +5 hours a day is not healthy. do like 2-3 games.. get something to eat.. go outside. take a breather man.. do some push ups.. i get it was your first game of the day.. but come on man.. so.. what was it.. you played into the night.. and woke up played again.. or did you go somewhere for a block of time.. was it sleep or school/work that stopped you playing? doesnt matter..

But look at your trend of playing.. notice how your first game of the day is normally a loss.. you know what.. start your day with a warm-up normal game. then notice how you have a block of 2-3 games that look pretty decent.. so those are your prime games you want to be playing. but then you see your win/loss % start dropping down after that time.. so.. here is what you should do.. play 2 hours.. thats basically 3-4 games.. take a break.. like a 2 hour break.. then come back.. play a normal.. then do another block of 2-3 rank games.. you are human man.. and if you want to be upper gold maybe even plat .. do this.. you need a break.. or.. or... or.. you can burn yourself out.. drop your elo. blame your team mates. get so annoyed because they cant carry you or vice versa. [zombie-brand-mindblown] the advice i gave you is what i do when i want to be upper Plat.
i break out a piece of paper and i write down the hours i play and my win loss %. over the course of 2 weeks i decide what hours are best for rank and what hours are best for normal play. and i take a break at my lowest win % time of play.

You genius, you know you start off at playing at silver/bronze elo then if you win a couple of provisional games you play with golds and if you win even more you play vs plats. that guy probably won some provisional before he played with you.

archerno112/12/2017, 2:36:20 PM5 votes

Well you started same way. Why should others be treated differently? We all started same way. Some became pros, some are in pit of Bronze. But we all started from same point. It would be stupid to change that point now.

no legitimately new players belong anywhere but bronze

i played into silver 1 my first season (3) i can 100% guarantee you... back then... i played like bronze trash

there is absolutely NO way a NEW player being above bronze

i cant move wtf12/12/2017, 4:30:26 PM2 votes

You can't really start lower because it would actually be impossible for bronze players to climb out of bronze. At least in high silver/low gold players have a decent chance if a plat+ is smurfing or one team gets a true newbie.

JESUSSAYSNO12/12/2017, 11:31:56 PM2 votes

New players start at a MMR of Silver 3, not G5.

I stopped running into unranked players when I hit s2 because my MMR was bloated to g5 (-16 loss +25 wins) from streaking hard. I agree that the default unranked MMR should be lower, somewhere in the B2-S4 range, but there's no way you're running into unranked players in genuine G5 games. Sounds to me like your MMR is tanked, but its not low enough for a demotion.

Edit: http://euw.op.gg/summoner/userName=bobovich

You're not even gold anymore (if you were) and you have a 23% winrate in the last 20 games. Your predicted solo MMR is S3, which is exactly on the money. Its to be expected that you see unranked players.

I suggest winning more games if you want the quality of your games to go up. Low elo is a mess, but you dont get out unless you're able to prove you're not a garbage player. 23% winrate over 20 games is pretty fucking abysmal. You belong where you're at. Drop the narcisism, improve your play, and stop bitching about games you can't carry, when you clearly can't carry the games where you're given the opportunity. Yorick is one of the stronger champions right now, between the Q changes and the new masteries heavily favoring his kit, you're able to win games, but you aren't doing so.

Fütanari12/12/2017, 9:55:54 PM1 votes

Lol whenever I post unranked shouldn't be in even silver because they suck I go -100.

MisoTroll12/12/2017, 10:31:41 PM1 votes

Frankly, while I understand that elo starts everyone out at the "average" rating (~1200-1250) by definition, that only works well in a game like chess where your actions don't fuck over 4 other people. You should start in mid bronze (no sense in forcibly starting someone at 0 elo (or whatever Riot has set to be the minimum), because that would actually be cruel.

The Oasis12/12/2017, 5:39:07 PM1 votes

I've had this happen before and its really frustrating. I don't mind if smurfs get placed in my gold games after winning 5 placement matches in a row, but its unconscionable how a lux support who fights me for cs and is barely aware of the existince of lane pressure is allowed to play vs golds.

Funkin Dunkin12/12/2017, 5:17:22 PM1 votes

It could very well be possible, and I have suspected this for a while, that that very player you mentioned, is actually better than his bronze counter parts. Amazing and incredibly bad to hear, but it might be possible. So while he is stomping people who has zero idea what a foot is, he is now in an MMR where he's way outclassed.

Kitten of Evil12/12/2017, 11:31:24 PM1 votes

I mean, for better or worse, Silver is average. That is and should be where most people are placed after provisionals.

deadlychuck12/14/2017, 5:12:41 PM1 votes

Man, have they already lost that many players?

WaffIeMaker12/12/2017, 11:40:04 PM1 votes

If you are in low elo just op.gg your whole team and make sure they aren't unranked new players during champ select, if they are and they are shit in their match history dodge, only suggestion I can offer

Gives No Lux12/13/2017, 2:55:10 AM1 votes

I just played 3 placement matches on a smurf and all 3 had a gold player who straight up trolled from the start.

Cowseed12/13/2017, 4:02:06 PM1 votes

Start them at BV.

GarthBrooksXD12/13/2017, 5:24:22 PM1 votes

It's been this way forever and they never fix it. Glad finally out of reach of playing with them. Even if you're gold 1, somebody can duo with an unranked in ur promo to plat. It is retarded and needs fixed but they don't acknowledge the problem even exists for some reason.

Morticianjohn12/12/2017, 8:04:33 PM1 votes

While leveling to 30, when I started playing, I won plenty of games. However, I went 2/8 or 1/9 in my ranked provisional. Was placed in bronze 2. Started feeding until I reached bronze 5 and started climbing from there. The same experience for my brother. I am sure there are new players who either don't jump into ranked immediately or practice and study the game to get better, however, I have seen a pattern over and over again of new players getting placed higher than they should.

Also consider this. Most new players have friends and family that play. If they are constantly duo with their gold or plat friend their mmr will be inflated even if they feed every game. IMO it's not good for the new player or for their team mates
