What's going on in draft pick?

Alright, so I heard from a friend that if a player gets a ranked restriction they have to play a set number of normal draft games in order to play ranked again and I wanted to ask if this was true or not. I'm only asking because I've noticed lately that there have been a large amount of toxic players whenever I queue up for normal draft.

Now I know that there will always be toxic players, we've all gotten them before but it feels like there have been a lot more and the toxicity of them is much worse normal. I mean lately Ive had:

A Karthus who rage quit 4 minutes in after giving first blood only to come back, sell everything in his inventory, bought homeguard mobility boots and proceeded to run straight down a lane every time he spawned feeding whoever was in the lane.

A Cassiopeia who left mid to take my jungle because I didn't secure a level 3 dragon

A Kalista who began to follow me around in my jungle and take every camp I started with rend because I got first blood instead of her when ganking her lane (she flashed to take my red away from me a few times).

And much much more. Like, maybe I'm wrong and I just have really really bad luck this week but it just feels like there has been an influx of unpleasant people to play with lately.

It's true. Riot is punishing some players by locking them out of ranked and telling them they have to win x amount of normal draft games to unlock ranked again. And from I've heard it has affected the normal draft queue.

Riot doesn't want to make a true prisoner's island where "toxic" players play with other toxic players because they believe forcing them in that environment would only reinforce their behavior and/or not lead to reform.

From what I've heard most of the players forced into normal draft are chat restricted which is probably why they are taking their frustration out in other ways (like the 3 examples in your post)

Yeah, honestly the way people act and the things they do and say reminds me of symptoms of severe withdrawal.

Ironically, nobody has any issues with a true prisoner's island. People tend not to care about the experience of condemned toxic players. The current system is the worst of both worlds: they're still playing with other toxic people (not that this is a problem, but Riot believes it is) AND they're still mixed in with normal players.

In short, normal draft is ruined.

That is definitely one way of looking at it and it's a valid viewpoint.

What Riot most of all actually is trying to do is to avoid actual perma bans. That way "toxic" players are actually encouraged to keep playing on their main and reform instead of making smurfs while giving new players an extra bad impression of this game's community.

I'm fond of normal draft, but I refuse to go in without at least 4/5 premade, and even then the enemy team is muted without a second thought, at the first sign of anything abusive. It has become exactly the hell they said they would never make, with exactly none of the benefits of actually making it.

Riot just wants you to pay more money to get out of it. You either give up on the account make another torture newbies buy your stuff again and they laugh and line their pockets while pretending they care about the community.

However, this is exactly what they should do. If someone is toxic enough to never become "un-toxic" again, they should remain on their Prison Island. This is a game, not cotillion. Riot shouldn't have to teach people to not be toxic. They should state the rules, remind them to not be toxic, but not try to help toxic players as much as they do.

Riot doesn't care about you it's a joke. Their punishments are a joke as well, all they want to do is make you pay more money when they ban an account and you make another one. They're a joke you know why other games don't have the idea of toxic or tribunals? Because they don't care because they're not greedy jerks to the point where they make a system and lie about numbers to make you pay money for their free to play game. They reserve the right to take everything you buy so that you have to buy it again. The idea of toxic didn't even exist until this game because Riot wanted a scam to charge naive gamers that would gladly lap it up. They're shitty human beings. You can believe whatever you want but that's the truth. They know tribunal doesn't actual stop or get rid of toxic players it just resets them for new accounts.

I feel like since I've been banned in ranked playing normal draft has just made things worse. Instead of trying to get people to calm down it seems designed to make you go on tilt even more. I'm pushed into normal draft which means jack fucking shit and offers no sense of progression and forced to play with people who don't give a fuck because it's normals, and if that shit sandwich isn't enough I can't just play 35 games, I have to WIN them all, putting even more pressure on me to single handily carry these teemo supports and "it's just normals" and all this other bullshit. Yeah it's just a normal to you but to me I have to win this stupid game.

I find it quite baffling that someone with a supposed degree in anything would come up with a system so asinine. It's awful for the people who are punished, and awful for the people who end up being innocent bystanders.

There's a lot of anger in that comment. I think the fact here is that you and all other people that actually have ranked restrictions need to take a stepback and calm down. I don't care what anyone thinks; League of Legends is just a game, it may be more than just a game to others but to most people it's a game. It's a game where you have to work with your team in order to win.

Just because it's "normals" doesn't mean people who play draft don't give a shit, they just want to play in a more relaxed environment without the worry of losing their progressions in ranked OR they want to play in a competitive mode like ranked without having to play with the toxic players who are abundant in ranked.

This is where people like you come in. How did you get ranked restriction? Because that's the problem and instead of just banning you outright maybe Riot wants to give you the chance to be a better teammate. Why is there pressure on you to all 35 games? Are you a professional player who needs to get back into ranked to stream and make some cash? Probably not, take the chance to play the normal games and have some fun; and I don't mean raging, calling out your teammates for every little mistake, and feeding. Play the game, try to win and try to have fun doing it.

And if by chance you get placed with someone more toxic than you and you go through what some of us go through? Ignore them. You need to learn to put up with them the same way we put up with them. The only difference is most of us don't get banned for doing it. I know it's really frggen frustrating to be banned from the mode you want to play; but think of it as an opportunity get better than as a punishment.

Except that's exactly what it means.

"Why'd you pick Teemo support, you have no CC to help in team fights and you aren't warding?" "Who gives a fuck it's normals I don't care".

Very common. I heard this 2 nights ago while the Teemo was dying 18 times. No one gives a shit about normal draft. The fact we have to win these games instead of just playing them simply ensures we will go on tilt even harder because the game means much, much more to us then it does to anyone else in the queue.

I listed a bunch of reason why's there is pressure on me to win, starting with the fact that normals mean jackshit. I'd rather be playing a mode where progression is possible, matches matter, and people care more (even if not everyone does). That's why I was playing ranked instead "it's just normals" draft in the first place.

"And if by chance you get placed with someone more toxic than you and you go through what some of us go through? Ignore them. You need to learn to put up with them the same way we put up with them. Nothing about this punishment makes me want to "get better". It makes me want to rage harder, and that's my point. This kind of punishment system is retarded. It's awful for the punished and awful for the bystanders.

HighSod1umGaming1 votes

It has nothing to do with being better. They know that the game is infuriating no one wants to deal with a teemo in ranked giving 20 kills making all your work useless because it's been made impossible to win by one player. They just want you to get angry, get banned, lose all the money you put into the game, and buy it all over again to double the profits.

They lie about statistics and caring about the community when really all they care about is making sure they make as much money as possible

HighSod1umGaming1 votes

You're absolutely right the only purpose of riot giving the idea of "toxicity" is to line their own pockets. They're greedy con artists, nothing more. It's a giant joke so you either make a new account and rebuy all your stuff which is the reason they created tribunal in the first place.

Think about it if tribunal did half of what these lying commies say it does, it wouldn't have been needed after the first year.

Toxicity decrease by 50%? yeah right try reset accounts by 50%

You know , this is seriously one of the dumbest idea's ever...., look at it a bit differently.

You are literally making the toxic population more DENSE!

  1. THIS IS BAD

  2. YOU BECOME WHO YOUR AROUND (loosely)

  3. THIS IS BAD

  4. WHO IS ACTUALLY GOING TO WIN THAT MANY DRAFT GAMES, most will probably do what I eventually did and just say screw it.

  5. THE HONEST RULE SHOULD BE.... mute someone if they hurt your feel bads, for all of you that take it so personal .... drop some acid damn....

HighSod1umGaming1 votes

They want to make money tribunal isn't a solution it's a marketing scam. They know it and the problem is most players don't realize how much money they actualy make from blatantly lying about how useful tribunal is.

ComannderShepard1 votes

How exactly does Riot make money from the tribunal? The only way I can see this is if they don't want to flat out ban people because that cuts off a source of income; but I like to believe that Riot does the more sensible thing here.

ComannderShepard2 votes

This is really unfortunate. I really enjoy draft and would hate for this to be the final solution for toxic players in ranked. I'm going to need to make more friends to start 5 manning.

When I heard about this I completely started ignoring draft. I already ignore blind because many people whine so I just play team builder pretty much all the time.
