@RIOT why is Karthus Q so unnecessarily difficult to use?

What I mean by difficult to use is that smart cast with indicators might as well not exist for his Q. Why can I only see the range of the ability by hovering over the ability itself instead of being able to hold the key down. Update the mechanics behind the ability please.

Smartcast doesn't exist for his Q. Same with Cass Q, Yasuo Q, and a few others.

The ability being so cheap, it having an intuitive hitbox, and the frequency of its use makes smart-cast too slow. If you'd like to know its range for the first few times while using it, hover Q on the hud.

I think that logic may apply to Yasuo because of how short range it and because its linear. However Karthus Q is not and I mentioned that I don't want to hover over my hud to check whenever I want to check/confirm the range.

If you think the smart cast is too slow then you and anyone else can turn it off. Playing without smart cast in general is better but that requires great understanding of a champion's range of abilities already. Something that no one in general has when learning a champion.

I learn champs playing with smart cast. This includes Karthus who I played alot of back a few seasons ago. It's really not that hard.

I find this quite humerous since there are posts on the boards about the opposite (it being ok for Karthus but not Yasuo).

In reality both champs would be worse off since it would (in effect) lock them out of casting other abilities for a few extra miliseconds.

Karthus Q is cast repeatedly and basically replaces his autos for csing. He doesn't need extra delay to make it slower to use.

Yes it's too slow and I didn't make the decision, Riot did. Doing so greatly increases the overall frequency of a Karthus' possible Q casts and allows him to get off more dps in fights.

It's similar to the Ryze change from a few patches ago (Ryze gained ~3% WR from making his Q cd refund on-cast instead of on-hit.)

I'm pretty sure riot is afraid of giving his Q some QoL buffs, because he would be so overwhelmingly powerful if his Q was reliable and easy to use.

Not using Telepathy. Only way to play Karthus is to use Telepathy in order know what you're opponents next move is going to be.

In all seriousness, Karthus [Q] takes alot of practice in order to use right. He could use one of those fancy 'Light' Reworks (adjustments) they've been handing out to champions like Morgana Morgana , Rammus , etc.
