So... is Liandry's Torment not supposed to be the mage's anti-tank weapon?

It seems to me that Liandry's isn't good at busting down tanks because they could get good health regeneration or just stack MR and make Liandry's ineffective. With the loss of DFG (justified as it was to remove it), mages like Ziggs, Lux, Syndra, etc., are left without a means of taking out tanks, even with Void Staff, because high health is better versus burst spells than MR is.

Unfortunately, there's no way to give burst casters an anti-health attack without it being used against squishies too much (as was the case with DFG). So what can be done to fix this?

I really hate facing so many tanks as Lux these days. She already has it bad with assassins running rampant, but the tanks too? T_T

Liandrys isn't a tank busting item, it is a sustained damage item for sustained damage AP bruisers.

Well, Morello's is for the regen part and Void Staff for too much MR. Pretty sure Riot has their eyes on Liandry's for potential changes, though.

liandries is more of an ap bruiser/tank item actually to fight other tanky opponents.

reason is simply, because its more effective on champions with consistent damage, like mundo. and allows champions to deal reliable damage, without building much ap.

usually mages, with longer cooldowns are the least to profit from it. its not your job to kill tanks as a mage. youre supposed to burst down the enemy ad carry, and support your team with utility. lux for example will never be truly ineffective, even when she cant kill someone, she can still provide shielding, vision, and cc for the rest of her team.

the only mages who make good use of the item, are cass and malz.

Considering how Tanks bitchmoan as it is about being taken out by ADCs, I'd love to see the river of tears if Mages are able to burst them down.

Maybe not burst them down so much, but Liandry's should be better able to whittle down tanks rather than just annoy them.

I always thought it was dumb that liandry's only does % current HP dmg...nothing more annoying than hitting someone with a spell leaving them with 15 hp and watching liandry's do 0 dmg every tick...needs to have some sort of base damage

Liandry's is more for champs with CC in their kits or buy Rylai's. I almost want to say it's a AP tank's or support's item.

I understand there are situations where you need to, but if you are playing a real burst mage, like Leblanc or even syndra maybe, you shouldn't be trying to tank bust?

Just because you are a mage doesn't mean you either one shot or lose the fight, whats the CD on ziggs bombs? How many can you throw in a fight if you dont die early?

Lux is in a hard spot right now, and if you see a galio cho mundo maoki sorta deal going on maybe don't run Lux.

Mages aren't necessarily designed to tank bust, you can help, for sure, but your ADC is the real tank buster.
