@Riot: Do you consider Tenacity a toxic stat?

With the removal of Tenacity from SotAG, there's only 2 options left for it in Classic mode: Mercury's and Zephyr, both of which can't be used by a vast majority of the roster. Adding in that Riot wants each CC to be "meaningful" and whatnot, and I get the impression that they don't want the stat to exist anymore.

Am I wrong?

I think they want it to be that you have to give up something else to get it.

Mercury treads? You dont get swiftness/tabi/greaves Zephyr? Rushed it over damage.

that kind of thing.

So why is it they don't introduce Moonflair Spellblade into Classic? If you want it, you gotta give up something like a Rabadon or Rylai. Pretty significant cost.

Well, I of course can only guess: but here are my thoughts.

  1. It's actually a pretty good item, so not much of a cost to give it up - look at Zephyr and Treads: if it was the same item -tenacity, no one would touch it. Its because of tenacity, that at least treads sees play. Moonflair inst bad, even without tenacity, and is something that might be built anyway. So with tenacity, its a strong item (depending on match up) - so how much are you really losing?

  2. Treeline is a small map, with no wards. Bad situations constantly occur, and you need to be able to get away. So more tenacity is needed. On Summoners Rift, the game play focus is intended to be more prevention orientated, so the strategy is in the engage (or the avoiding of one) rather than building to escape.

  3. Balance issues, especially right before the World Championship. Maybe they will add more next season? This preseason had all the sight, trinket, and jungle changes. Not much room for live testing other shake ups.

Honestly, no matter how hard ccs are, I will never buy Moonflair Spellblade. One of the worst items for ap.

50 AP 50 AR 50 MR

Those stats are not bad :/

why would you not build it?

Riot's official word is that AR and MR on the same item is a bad combination, as Health does the same thing, but more effectively. But still, I would argue against their point, as a Rumble or Vladimir can always use more resists (Vlad gets free health from his AP, while Rumble has a shield).

I dislike the fact that Mercury still gives MR, while Riot has been popping AD champs with very hard CCs for years. It should give hp or smth.
