Since when was "Support" and "Melee" such a crazy concept of a combination?

  1. A support can be melee.
  2. He's got like a 45% winrate dude.
Ben Sharpio1 votes

he's good when played properly

Limmie3 votes

That can be said of all champions.

Ben Sharpio1 votes

no it cant. That's why there's shit-tier/autoloss champs.

This is an untrue statement.

Even if a champ has a 43% win rate, sometimes you'll be IN those 43% of games.

Somebody won lane against Faker as Urgot. Every champion is "good" when played properly. An OP champion does well even when played poorly, and an UP champion only does well when played properly.

  1. A melee support is basically a mid or top laner....
  2. I've seen Rakan mid go 18/1 hes strong, you don't know how to play him.

  1. Alistar, Blitz, Braum are not played in top.

  2. I guess a lot of people don't know how to play him because of his winrate of, what? 45%?

  1. Braum is played top so is blitz and so is alistar, though alistar is mostly mid. You build either full tank on braum or full ap on blitz and alister and they shit on you will damage. It's none meta, but strong so good mains of these will bust your ass.

  2. Because he's new and most people can't play him. He is actually a busted champion, but because people will only play him as a support no one will ever learn how and will accept the low win rate a support usually gets..

Their meta roles are supports.

  1. I haven't seen a Braum, Blitz, or Alistar anywhere other than support in a long-ass time. I guess since we're going by personal experience alone, like with your 18/1 example, mine's better than yours because it's mine, right? :)

  2. How dare a champion designed to be played as a support be played as a support, and for his players to expect him to be most effective there. Meanwhile, in reality: Rakan is still terrible most of the time.

Redesignated1 votes
  1. That's not how that works at all.
  2. I, too, have extremely unusual things happen while playing with Silvers in the dead of the morning. That doesn't mean it's the norm.

Since when are "melee" and "support" exclusive of each other? I don't think removing 100 range from Rakan so he can build Runic Shield is too much of a buff at all, since, no seriously, he only has 300 range anyway. He's already basically melee, just let him be true melee.

That range matters more than you seem to think.

IKR I can kite an Alistar right outside of pulverize range. Wish it was like 25 units longer imo because the freakin ADCs/ ranged champions just kite me barely outside of my AA range. Just 1 auto attack is all I wanted and ill go back to my bush...

Doctor Jarvis1 votes

When taking about the 100 range difference between his range and melee range, its a give and take. He gets Relic line (and Titanic Hydra, I guess, which some claim would be broken on him) and he loses a little bit of range on the autos he's barely using. Im not talking about giving him reduced range on all his abilities, just his autos.

FooDang1 votes

Thats what he's talking about. That 300 AA range means a lot more than you think. If he misses W the the target if isnt too far away he can get an auto in or 2 before he E back to the ADC. Melee kiting sucks, Rakan can have a limited amount of kiting/positioning with his AA. It needs to be longer imo.

I mean I would love to build relic shield on him. However, I just don't think reducing his auto works well with his kit.

We need a support champion that's strong ALONE.

Not one that forces your ADC to play a certain champion.

Rakan kit is strongly straight foward, he have 2 strong engage tool and is pretty mobile. His W require to be in face of the enemy, and his ult as well. I beleive making him lower range to proc Relic shield wouldn't be a huge buff to the champ itself but it would open a tank build path as he is already having a tanky engage kit.. building him AP is shooting yourself in the feet .

If they just made his heal work off jg camps, he'd be a really fun jungler, imo.

I don't think he's as nuts as you say, but I don't think he needs Relic Shield. I've looked at some Rakan players who are considered "Rakan Masters", and there's a trend. They're playing with a Xayah when they win, or they're playing in an uneven game when they win(one challenger on both sides with the other side having one master and 3 D1 and D2 players while their side has one challenger and all master players as one of the examples). There are some other occasions where they're playing with a Lucian and they win or someone else carries hard. Most of the games though they're all equal in kills(aside from Rakan cuz he's a support) with Rakan having like 11 or so assists, so I wouldn't say it was particularly Rakan who carried the game because of how OP he was, again, unless he's with a Xayah. These are master players btw.

The problem is how much he depends on Xayah to be as useful as he could, while Xayah doesn't depend on Rakan to be useful at all. This needs to be changed. Lover's Leap is a useful enough ability for them both, they don't need his E to be DOUBLE the range when dashing to Xayah, he needs a little more room to dash to other champions. They should change his E to where it's about 75% or 80% range for all champions with Xayah having no range buff imo.
