Where is my agency?

First off, let me say this is for a discussion. If you want to comment and flame, this really isn't the post for you. If you don't want to read, this isn't the post for you. And I say this because this post is opinionated and anecdotal but references the experiences of others. And when so many people experience the same thing, it needs to be addressed as a community. This post is to open discussion about this feeling of despair - the inability to do anything. The inability to actually enjoy or play the game "the right way".

I play League to destress, have fun. I realized League isn't a game anymore by definition. It's just a product right now and a bad one. It isn't fun this season and this has happened before.

I could hit Gold easily and now I can't get through Silver because I have a troll/quitters/feeders/toxic players every other game. I don't have any agency in my role. I can go 16-0 but damage is so high and there are so many unhealthy designs/unbalanced champions that I can't carry.

And I used to be able to do that.

People often used to say the ADC role has the most agency in the game. It has the least right now. My suppport dictates my lane. If they feed, I lose. My jungle dictates my opportunities. If they feed/fall behind, I lose but that's all lanes this season. My top dictates my frontline. If they can't peel, I die and if I'm carrying? I lose. My mid dictates our teamfight potential and stops the enemy midlaner from snowballing. If they feed, I lose.

I can't stop assassins. They're rewarded for simply jumping on me and can auto me to death. I can't stop bruisers/juggernauts. It feels the damage I put out is so insignificant in a fight compared to them. I can't stop knockups, knockbacks, airbornes.

Why are my KDAs so high and positive and I still lose? I go to lanes, help out with objectives, help my jungler yet every time this season I'm losing because someone feeds and the other team snowballs. I lose because Riot removed the ability for SoloQ to allow solo-carries. I lose because Riot has decided the amount of burst toplaners and midlaners can do is what ADCs should never do.

And now we're in this state where the ADC role isn't a damage carry role. It's not a carry role at all. There are so many poor interactions, so many champions who take away your control just by design, and so many overloaded mechanics I can't play.

And people will say "It's just you. Get better." But I keep seeing my scores and I'm often doing the best on my team but my team keeps losing.

I'm being paired with people with negative winrates every game and up against teams with positive ones.

It begs the question, what is matchmaking? Is it even fair to begin with?

If you do well but are losing, Riot will pair you with the worst to ensure you continue to lose to drop. But doesn't that collide with the fact you are doing so well?

If you win too much, you'll be against people of much higher ranks but your teammates will have a huge MMR difference due to your current division/elo and your MMR. This will cause a lane to feed as well.

And you have to force yourself to be in the middle or Riot will try its best to throw you to one of the extremes. All the way to the bottom or all the way to the top.

I see these complaints daily. I've seen more this season so early on than any season before.

When's the last straw? When will this be addressed?

You know, sometimes I wish Riot made a poll on how players feel about their game experience or opened a temporary talk event about it. It feels so important to get yet it's always a miss nowadays.
