Because the game thinks you belong in a lower elo so it tries to put you there

You currently have a 47% win rate and do not belong as highly ranked as you are now, no matter what rank you were last season. Until you improve your win rate and get on a win streak you will be losing more lp than you are gaining.

48W 54L . Recently string of losses as well. MMR is like a balance, it goes up and down off wins and loses. Currently your net is majority losses your balance is lower.

I don't quite know how riot builds their Tiers. Two easy ways are a Static MMR range or having it be off Player %s. Static seems most fair and simple to me so that's my go to assumption. Its not hard to make all Tiers represent an expected MMR range for players when accurate.

So in that system for LP calculation you would have players receive lower LP values if they are below the MMR range. That way the MMR and LP gap closes if they maintain positive win rates, MMR being a value that moves higher then LP . Even if K lowers to a point that your MMR gains are about the same as LP because of a Static Range, the smaller gains result in being on the lower end once you promote and youd see slightly slanted LP gains at the low end then high end of a Division. Assuming a consistently positive win rate.

K Is a variable used by Arpad Elo in his adjustment formula for Player Rating. The best way to describe it is uncertainty. High uncertainty = higher MMR gains and losses per match. That way badly placed accounts move out of the wrong MMR range more rapidly. The 2 things that tend to lower K are ladder position and Experience. Higher up you go the lower it tends to be, protects player ratings and also ensure no one climbs to far off just luck. Experience is # of games played that are tracked... in Leauge that's all of them for a Que. Riot gets to pick how many # and what the Reduction of value looks like so I have no details for you. Just need to know that at some point your individual games are likely worth less rating then your early games.

I can think of two reasons. Last season you played with a buddy and this season you're going solo?

Last season I got to gold 5, but then dropped to silver 1 because my buddy was like "help me get to gold" Problem is he was one of those feeder type players. You know the ones that ALWAYS make bad shot calling.

Hmm... I won lane twice now but lost both games... so guess I was right about this downwards spiral or snowball effect I was talking about... but still waiting for that source to Record being related to MMR
