farm upvotes
Why do people "farm upvotes" and what do you gain from it, like what happens if someone have 1000 or maybe even 10.000 upvotes?

Nothing happens with gaining large amounts of upvotes except highly upvoted threads will make the Hot page.
Otherwise, upvote totals are just a number on your profile.
Nothing, just reddit syndrome, fun fact the numbers doesn't matter on reddit either, I mean some subs require you a number of karma to japon but except it you gain nothing, is strange to me to see why so many people are obsessed with useless numbers, but on other hand I had an YouTube channel or 3 actually and I can say the only numbers that will ever matter is how many real people are following you on any social site, because it's easier to spread your opinions and creations, that being said no one gain nothing from upvote/likes/hearts etc. That maybe just a highlight for a extremely small period of time.
