Can there be a "meta champions" filter when you're browsing through your owned champions?

I get that it would need updating every month but it would still help out a ton for me instead of trying to remember the broken stuff that I have to learn.

Just a thought.

So much wrong with this... Besides the massive issue of it requiring constant updates, it would also just push FoTM on inexperienced players...

What's wrong with that?

Players would rush to the best characters, which they were shoved at. Then they'd expect the best characters to stay on top. People would be even more rage-y on here shouting about how they were playing the suggested champs, and those champs should be better.

Isn't the only difference from that and live the fact that people know the meta changes? It's not like it would be much different from now.

Not every player is a meta zombie. I think a lot of people pick the character they like best. (no statistics for that though)

The other issue is if Riot declares what is meta people will try to hold them to that.

I still think people will play their favorite champions regardless, and Riot's inaction with/against the meta champions still means they're allowing the meta to exist at all. At least help us out a bit, ya know?

If you present people with 100 champions, and tell them 20 are meta, I'm guessing a lot of people won't even look at the lower ones. I'm sure some people will still play their favorite, but pushing the meta will change what some people play. It will also almost certainly make people mad when Riot endorses a champion and then turns around and nerfs them.

As for a meta always existing, a meta does always exist, but it is highly subjective. Even if a game was perfectly balanced there would still be a meta, because a meta is based off of what people think is the best, not which character can actually do the most when played optimally.

They already do that with how they buff champions who are about to receive a skin, or, subsequently nerf them after they've made money off a champion who has recently gotten a skin. I do agree that no matter if they choose to embrace the meta existing or not players will always gravitate to champions who can do things in a more efficient way than another champion who can do them but may be more difficult or less likely to succeed in the same way. Jhin got an indirect buff from lethality while also receiving a skin this patch, for example.
