Blade of the Ruined King is supposed to be an item that counters heath stacking. Unfortunately, it also does a billion other things.

It's easy to build, it gives sustain, and it even gives mobility AND CC.

It does so many things in fact, that we could split it up into two items.

A. Blade of the Ruined King - Pickaxe + Recurve Bow + Dagger +40 AD +50% Attack speed Passive - Steal 8% of the targets current health as physical damage.

This turns it into a raw attack speed/on hit item like the original Madred Bloodrazor was. By loading all of the sustain into the on hit effect this makes it less appealing to people like Tristana, who rely on crits, as a "get it every match" item.

B. Executioner's Calling - Cutlass + Pickaxe 60 AD +10% lifesteal Active - Execution - Deal 100 (+0.5 total AD) physical damage and steal a large amount of move speed for 2 seconds.

This makes it appealing to AD heavy but attack speed slow units. People like Darius, Talon, or Trundle. Decreasing the duration but increasing the power of the slow makes it a more selfish item for the user, and less about holding the target down for your team. (That should be Frozen Mallet's job.)

This has been suggested before by others, hopefully someone at Riot sees and comments on this. :X

Let's assume we're talking adc's here. The most avid range of buyers for bork.

Blade of the ruined king is not easy to build -- you honestly aren't thinking when you say that. You buy it on duelling champions first: Think Twitch Vayne -- ones who excel at long term combat. Cost 1400g (off the top of my head but that should be correct) for a cutlass. BF sword is 1550g. BF sword is stronger in every way basically to the meager cutlass. Then you have to spent 900g on 2 daggers. IE path equivalent at this point is pickaxe. THEN wait another 900 gold on champs who have extremely poor wave clear vs champs like Jinx Graves Sivir again at this point they got the cloak of agility.

At this point you might think: "Hey they got their damn item first and I have to wait 645 more gold to even compete" ... Well yes that would be true if those who get item 3153 first had strong wave clear. These are champs who are often expected to lose lane but have extreme snowbally and objective control (especially Vayne for dragon// baron pressure and Twitch for turrets -- especially the nexus turrets since he can attack both at once with his ult and can go invisible to secure naked inhibitors or... what have you).

They each have their trade off. While the duelling champs eventually do get IE, they get it later on making them seemingly lackluster in comparison.

I'm not trying to sit here and say one item is better than the other, but as it stands, IE is overwhelming and the alterative paths like botrk rush (intead of IE rush) don't compare .. and if the duelling champs don't capitalize on objective control or kill picks they can fall behind without statik shiv or ghostblade -- assumedly at that point the IE rush champs done have that.. and possibly more.

Do think about when they get boots and their boot upgrades too and how well IE scales with crit and damage items. It's pretty overwhelming.

"Steal" 8%? That's still good amount of lifesteal

and the 2nd one is like strictly worse than a Bloodthrister

Back to the design boards! Next time provide like 5 examples of each!

Needs the daggers replaced with a recurve bow.

That will make it less friendly of a build path.

Or better yet remove the attack speed all together and make it build from bilgewater+ long sword. Cost 300 less gold and have 40 AD instead of 25 AD and 40% attack speed and perhaps 12% life steal up from the current 10.

It really never needed the attack speed in the first place.

If you're building for an on-hit effect, you need AS
