Why build Bloodthirster over Death's Dance?

SlashStriker··7 votes·5,552 views

IMO Death's Dance outclasses BT

I think BT should generate shield despite how much health it has and it should scale with something like 100% AD

And Death's Dance was suppose to be oriented toward casters but yet it still scales pretty well with crits while your abilities does not heal you at all. 33% is bullshit

Bloodthirster gives more healing from AA's, plus the shield is better when you have less health.

It depends on how much damage you're taking. Champs have between ~1500-2400 max health at 18. Most squishies fall into the 1750-1950 range (only 5 outliers below 1750). So let's say you have 1800 health, which is in the bottom 10% or so of champions. If you have BT, the enemy needs to deal 2150 burst damage to kill you. If you have DD, the enemy needs to do 2570 damage to kill you instantly, 2250 to kill you in one second, and 2150 to kill you in 1.6s.

So I think it depends a lot on the situation. If you're in an extended fight, then yeah, BT is great. (That extra 5% life steal makes a huge difference if you only have one life steal item.) But if you have to worry about Rengar jumping out at you and bursting you from full to dead in one rotation, or Fizz landing a fish on you and then bursting you from full to dead while you're knocked up, then DD is more effective even when you're pretty squishy.

Bloodthirster is WAYYYY better for if youre autoattack oriented, as the whole DD passive wont be as useful for them.

how exactly it wont be useful? It prevents you from being blown up in 0.1 second

Well, kinda. If youre going to get blown up, the passive still wont help you as it still does directly 70% damage that instant. Also BT generates a shield just by auto attacking something with health.

Think of it like this, DD = 15% lifesteal (kinda)+ theres a slightly better chance to survive more all ins BT = 20% lifesteal + you can get a shield

So usually BT is the better option as if youre going to get blown up, youre going to get blown up anyway.

It could.

BT builds better, you can just get a BF sword

Because BT is better for basic attacks and actually mitigates damage, not just delaying it.

Shield will save you from burst better than bleed. Lifesteal on BT is better (20% versus 15% on DD; this is especially important if you also build hydra because the Hydra AoE applies 50% LS, but DD is only 1/3 effective on AoE dmg). Points in favor of DD are 15% is more than lifesteal, it applies to all physical damage (1/3 for AoE though), 10% CDR.

DD is better oriented for champions who can build defensively and can reduce the damage they take up front (and by extension reduce the bleed so that they're less likely to die from it afterward). Illaoi is probably its best user, especially combined with item 3053.

Blood thirster is better for auto attackers/crit users and will probably be stronger with the item 3085 changes as well

one thing is for certain item 3074 will still only be bought on camille and fiora. RIP hydra

Why wouldn't you just build both???

Isn't that the point of delaying the damage with DD? To sustain it back up before the damage racks up to kill you?? So why wouldn't you build both?

Lifesteal needs to be gutted, the day Bloodthirster get buffed is a dark day for League.

Let me just go ahead and buy an Executioner's on Lux then, I'll tell you how that goes.

Morello only applies grievous wounds at 35% health and lower. Also they only need to auto attack a single minion to gain back 100 HP on a crit late game. My full combo does like 2500 damage at full build, 3000 if you add TLD and Luden's proc. The ADC has 2000 HP, plus a 450 HP shield from Bloodthirster. If they even have one MR item, forget it, they won't die. And if there is literally anything nearby for them to auto, they gain back 400 HP in about a second, not even counting summoner heal, or supports shielding/healing.

ADC's are not easy to kill late game unless they're braindead and get caught out. They don't need even more lifesteal to make me even less relevant.

IF everything hits

IF they don't have a drain target

IF their support isn't around

IF they don't have QSS

IF they don't have summs

IF they don't have GA
