Smarter Match Making

As I understand it, the current match making system basically takes an invisible mmr / elo from a hand full of players, and says yeah, these guys are around the same elo / mmr lets put them in a game together. Now, if there is more too it than that, let me know, but as I understand it, there is nothing more too it. And if that is the case, then it is inherently flawed.

I seem to be getting an awful lot of people in my games who just don't know how to play, don't buy wards, don't listen to team mates, never leave lane, etc. Incidentally, the closer I am to being in my promos, the more often I get these team mates. and if I am actually IN my promos? better believe there are at least 2 feeders on the team.

I propose we find a way to make match making smarter, by adding new parameters to mmr/elo. Things that will not over rule or over power your overall win / loss (W/L would still be the dominant factor in mmr calculation) but would also take into consideration your past performance vs the past performance of the other players you will be playing with. Things like, # of wards purchase on average, # of wards cleared on average, clicks per minute, average CS in your primary role and/or main champion overall k/d/a etc.

If the above could be incorporate into match making, I feel like we would truly be playing with players closer to our skill levels, more and more frequently, rather than literally having that guy who should be wood V but somehow clawed their way to silver/gold. (we all know those people)

criticism welcome!

I've been playing a lot recently and the way matchmaking seems to work is real odd. I'm certain more is going on than matching 2 teams with a similar 4 digit score. In season 6 I would get the best teams for 10-20 games straight and great win streaks, followed by 10-20 games of the opposite. People think this is something that is bound to happen because probability. I'm open to the possibility of odd patterns happening often but this was just too weird.

Different people play differently and matchmaking likely matches them differently. I had an adc who had amazing win rates, like 60-70% on all of her main champs. But averages about 11 deaths on all of her main champs, fed in my game, feeds in almost every game. Perhaps matchmaking finds 2 feeders and puts them on different teams. Maybe if you know how to feed but be more useful than the average feeder you can get rank 1.

I feel strongly that when I stopd playing for a few months something changed. I climbed well in season 6, climbed well at the start of season 7 but I come back and It may just be that I like late game champs when late game doesn't really exist. Late game is how many barons you can give up while clearing 3 lanes of supers..
