Is upgraded Yellow OP?
If it isn't OP, it's pretty damn powerful. It's so powerful that I am fully convinced it is the single most important purchase in the game and should not be delayed at all if possible. This applies to all upgraded trinkets but especially to upgraded yellow. When you look at its tooltip, it doesn't sound like much. When you look at ward performance in match history, it shows its power.
Essentially, here are the implications of 1 minute cooldown wards which having more than 1 charge at a time:
- You don't have to return to base for more wards; just hang out in the field and wait for them.
- You now have a dedicated ward slot instead of just something to supplement your warding.
- You can now overwrite wards with impunity.
The last one is probably the most important. Unless you are keeping track of timers, it can be difficult when only using sightstone or normal wards when you can place another ward without compromising both resources (time/wards) and vision uptime. With yellow trinket, you don't care. It's up in a minute. You aren't going to be warding much more than once a minute (on average) anyway. You'll need to buy some wards or use sightstone at first when you're lvl 9 while yellow is gaining charges, but after you start using them you can continuously place wards without backing. Ever. And since you can do it with impunity. your focus in warding can now be "I need this vision NOW" instead of "I've already got that part warded so if I ward here, I'm spending resources frivolously."
From what I can tell, the use of sightstone is now NOT a primary source for vision but now the main weapon for ward wars with pinks. The main source of vision wards will be yellow trinket. It is extremely easy to be placing 40 wards in a 50 minute game as a top or mid laner or ADC. That is the real kicked. A support, when warding properly, can easily get as many as 60 wards down in a 40 minute game. Now imagine what would happen if the top, mid, and ADC all placed 40 wards in a 50 minute game. This is completely possible with yellow trinket.
