Mundo Regeneration Change

Mundo’s identity is a champion who can regenerate damage taken. The problem with a simple implementation of this identity is that it feels bad to play against and cannot be adjusted beyond number tweaks. I have two changes that could solve this problem.

Innate Removed Mundo no longer regenerates maximum health. Added Mundo regenerates missing health while in combat with enemy champions.

Ultimate Removed Mundo regenerates a percentage of his maximum health. Added Mundo gains attack damage, movement speed, and additional regeneration based on his missing health until he leaves combat with enemy champions for five seconds.

Gating his regeneration behind combat with enemy champions rewards Mundo for fighting, letting that regeneration be stronger when he gets it, and prevents the misuse of the ultimate for lane sustain. Making the regeneration missing health encourages Mundo to take damage, putting himself at risk of being ganked during laning or bursted during teamfights.

I'm a Mundo player, so I feel obliged to nitpick your proposal. Sorry about this. Your proposed passive: Mundo is a lane bully with a sunfire ability. I'm assuming the % of missing health would be higher than the % of max health healing to make up for the fact that it's only in combat. However... with endless Q poke and bullying with W, staying in champ combat is not at all a challenge or risk in lane, and the costs of these abilities will be negated by the fact that the healing is % of MISSING health. So ultimately, this passive might be a buff, as it gives him more in-combat regen while he should be in combat a lot of the time. Also, the fact that it's only champ combat SEVERELY nerfs JG Mundo. Your proposed ultimate: Similar issues, I use his ult and see it used mainly for diving and all ins. You're quite literally buffing a use it's already good at, just to nerf using it out of combat (which is only really done before you have warmogs, which I usually run and see ran second or third.) Also, his E already gives AD based on missing health, so there's a bit of redundancy there.

I like the idea, but from the perspective of a Mundo player, I think these changes would be unhealthy.

Please, critique away, and say what you pleases!

Basically, I want to make a small change that would keep him from having free out-of-combat regeneration, letting him have power elsewhere in his kit. Here are my replies.

I totally forgot about Jungle Mundo. This is the biggest problem with my idea. How about a compensation buff? Masochism deals double damage to monsters. Less time clearing means less damage taken. He would also gain the identity of a pressure and counterjungler.

The missing health regeneration would not be oppressive in lane. Being in combat with enemy champions would require landing his Cleaver or getting close enough with W. Getting the full value of the regeneration would require being at low health in lane. The regeneration would end once out of combat with enemy champions. These interaction and risk gates, with a little tuning, would keep the regeneration in line while giving Mundo more regeneration when it counts.

I have nothing against buffing lane Mundo. My aim is to prevent ult misuse and free power elsewhere.

Diving and all-in’s should be what his ultimate is good at, and I have no problem with letting Mundo go where he pleases.
