Why Gold is Elo Heaven

Ifneth·2/27/2019, 2:10:20 PM·37 votes·14,510 views

I’d heard, while climbing through Bronze and Silver, that Gold was Elo heaven. I asked why and never really understood, but now I do. It’s a high enough rating for the players to be reasonably consistent from game to game, but a low enough rating for their skill to be reasonably similar despite small rank differences. The game plays pretty much the same way each time, allowing a little strategy and reducing frustration due to player performance variance. It feels good.

Pretty much yea. Lux "Support" going Doran's Ring and rushing Archangels is much more rare in Gold than the lower elos.

I miss Gold.

Quáx2/27/2019, 2:48:04 PM7 votes

Yea that's why I'm desperate to get myself to gold. People in that elo are apparently really nice and decently good at the game. Really gonna try this season.

This should be in Memes and Games.

This is true up to a point. As a gold jungler, I can tell you firsthand that people here are nicer and better than Bronze and Silver players, and not as toxic/egotistical as plat players. That doesn't mean that you don't still get boosted animals who queue up while "high AF" go 0/20, and blame the team. Gold isn't perfect. Most players are calm, collected, and decent, but it is by no means "elo heaven".

Gold isn't elo heaven. It's the most farthest from it. How can it be elo heaven when bot is losing like 1/8 and still pushing lane and then blaming the jungler? Or when people don't know how wards work. This happens almost every game. Bot is perma pushing and adc always has like 3 vision score.

looking forward to it

Himeji Castle2/28/2019, 8:04:46 PM2 votes

find it opposite, never seen worse players then ppl in high gold

TheFoxWolf2/27/2019, 5:12:50 PM2 votes

I got into gold and pretty much quit ranked because I found leavers happened more routinely.

Malix Farwin2/27/2019, 5:47:29 PM2 votes

The roughest time i have in gold is when i am matched with Silver players.

Wild Honey Pie2/27/2019, 11:04:46 PM2 votes

What do mean gold is a pile of shit. You probably had 3 games with no flaming so you're saying this. But the real elo heaven is like plat 2-1. Everyones trying so hard to get to diamond, they want it so bad. Almost never see a troll or first timing a champ because they want diamond so bad. But then you get diamond and it sucks again.

GiraffeFactory2/28/2019, 3:31:57 AM2 votes

I don't know what gold you're playing in, but it sure as hell ain't mine. I've noticed pretty much zero different in quality of games from silver.

General Esdeath 2/28/2019, 4:04:15 AM1 votes

Gold was great. People lose the ego and toxicity is much lower than silver.

The Trent2/28/2019, 4:46:40 AM1 votes

wha- elo hell and elo heaven don't exist dude. Multiple people prove this every day by smurfing and easily climbing up. Like sis- who you tryin' to fool here?

FSRER2/28/2019, 11:35:56 AM1 votes

But why should gold elo also affect plat? I try to climb from plat 5 (good mmr) but when i look at my teamates elo, gold 5, gold 2, plat 5 (me) gold 3, gold 1. What the heck is this? When you are at gold elo you climb because gold elo nowadays have quite average to bad players. I don't know about plat elo because gold players haven't let me get higher than plat 4 while whenever i have other plat on my team we do quite well but the difference is just too big.

Ahri Baka2/28/2019, 12:40:40 PM1 votes

Sadly no Gold is worse than Silver Because of Ego People think by reaching Gold , they are in High Eloc

Jofeyy2/28/2019, 4:36:02 PM1 votes

I dont know. I've been to gold a few times, there will always be trolls and people who lose their mental really easily. But I do agree it is where most people would like to be. I really want to get to plat to see if there's a difference though.

Handy Sandy 2/28/2019, 8:50:09 PM1 votes

Low to mid gold maybe. High gold is pretty cancer because the skill gap between gold 1 and plat 4-5 are kinda huge, but that's just my experience. It's probably nicer because it's the elo where the majority of toxic people realize that yelling at their teammates isn't going to win the game and understand that their Karthus can't follow the Zed when he roams bot.

SilentBomber2/28/2019, 9:04:25 PM1 votes

Wait to see Platinum!!!

Craft Zeppelin3/1/2019, 7:16:42 AM1 votes

I remember in gold when one person was actually Plat material they are instantly recognized because of how different they move and play. It was the sort of elo where you find a "really good player" among above average plebs. It was a fun elo even if you lost because you can learn something out of it.

Hochelaga3/1/2019, 2:38:16 PM1 votes

Once I hit gold elo back in season 2, I rememberered how short I stayed in that Division. I immediately climbed to Platinum 3 weeks later. Gold players are knowledgeable but sometime lacks mechanics. They understand the early phase but gets sometime very cocky during late game

Silver feels like the biggest wall you have to climb if you compared Elos to climbing a wall Silver would be Trumps wall

No.

Gold are often players that are decent or could be good, but only play very casually. They have the skills to reach platinum and highest, but not the will to enhance these skills.

Mullaous2/27/2019, 9:12:47 PM1 votes

Problem is anything before that, and alot of people aren't performing basic functions of the roles they que'd for. Especially junglers, which is why I always find it waaayy fking harder to win games below gold as anything but jungler, but after gold it starts to balance out better amongst the roles.

Seriously though if you're queing jungle and you don't think supporting the lanes is apart of your job description and you're stuck in silver... that's why.

This is how I rated league elos.

Iron - Some skilled, some bad. They never engage as teams.

Bronze - They never go for objectives or cs. ARAM @ 15 min

Silver - They only go for kills. They normally always go squishy.

Gold - They only go for cs, making them very passive and rarely dying as much. They don't throw hard when their laners are winning lane. They usually build tanky when theyre behind. This is my favorite elo to be in while im there.

Plat - Everyone wants to be the carry. Is your jungler 12/0 right now and the games looking easy? Well fuck him, youre the carry, not him. Now go die 1v1 constantly in hopes of being the one carrying until youre 3/15 and your nexus explodes.

Diamond - Roams, on roams, roams, more roams. Everyone is leaving their lanes to roam. They push lane, roam. Your lane is at their tower? Roam. Its pretty normal to get ganked 13+ times in 15 minutes in diamond+ elo. Roams > CS in this elo.

Kurorade2/27/2019, 11:27:46 PM1 votes

I love Gold, I was lucky enough to start in it.

The Nidja2/27/2019, 11:46:06 PM1 votes

As someone who plays on multiple accounts I agree that gold is elo heaven. Once you are out of low gold(use to be g5) you are done playing with people who just want the end season skin but aren't playing with plat players who think they are gods. In general a lot less toxic.

Besteal2/27/2019, 11:49:00 PM1 votes

Sure. Unless your teams are anything like mine usually are and are consistent at only one thing. One thing that certainly isn't winning. Gold is the place where people throw the most, if they even get a lead in the first place.

OrangeMarine2/28/2019, 12:30:35 AM1 votes

yeah and not bot lanes going 0-12 in 10 minutes.

gave up ranked after climbing to almost diamond and getting shoved back into bronze and being forced to climb thru that cesspool again? no thanks ill stick to norms/arams or just not play league lmao

Fuya2/28/2019, 2:42:17 AM1 votes

I'm in Gold 2, and I can safely say I climbed MUCH less frustrated into Gold 2 than into Silver.

Yes, my skills are good, but the ignorance of low elo players tilts me so much that I cannot think straight, and thus play worse.

Like, you're telling me Cloud Drake is the most important, and we should sacrifice the current INFERNAL DRAKE for it???

How can someone NOT get irrationally angry at such statement?
