League of few Legends...and a bunch of trash.

Balance is at an all time low right now, and I have been playing since s3. Back then, PLAYERS won lanes. Now, CHAMPIONS win lanes, largely regardless of skill.

And it is going to stay this way until the relationship between items and champions becomes healthier...

I think when they fix the game in the future, we are going to look back at Season 6 as an all time low point in the history of LoL, and an example of the game getting way too big way too fast, before they could catch up with themselves.

You should've seen S1 and S2. S5 and S6 instability is a total joke in comparison.

I still have nightmares about dodge stat Jax, as well as the perma silence nuke comp of Leblanc and Kassadin before their Qs got reworked to make people stop QQing. (Oh the irony)

one would assume after 5-6 years they would have learnt something about balance or at least not make retarded decisions

ReshiKillim34 votes

Current Jax is merely a shadow of the terror he used to be.

Dodge stat Jax could run onto the fountain while being immune to all damage, including the fountain laser, and kill a Tryndamere (or an entire team) on that fountain. In other words, Jax sitting on the enemy fountain for as long it takes a Janna to kite a full health Tahm Kench to death without dying.

Riot has greatly improved the balance of League over the years, but there still is the slumps where the balance teams make bad decisions. This is one of them.

Doctor Dyment8 votes

Remember when Tyndamere's ultimate allowed him to not die from fountain shots? Oooh, how about when they released Feral Flare? Remember when Twitch could go invisible for... what was it? 55 seconds? People talk about imbalance now and days, they weren't around back during the dark ages.

Anidan4 votes

Feral Flare wasn't part of the Dark Ages, dammit. Flash disjointing projectiles, the dodge stat, Jax gaining HP passively for AD and AP, Release Xin Zhao, original Wriggle's Lantern that could do 500 damage to monsters, with 14% lifesteal... that the 500 damage proc would apply, Zhonya's Ring, 3 second Silence Kassadin on a targeted nuke with longer range than a Caitlyn auto, that same 55 second invisibility on Evelynn, but who could come out with a 2-man stun (for up to 2 seconds) instead of just some extra attack speed.

Those were the Dark Ages of League.

Evelynn : "For reference, the damage from those capes stacked, my stealth was about 60 seconds and I could go right up to people without breaking it as long as I didn't use a spell or basic attack...and I had a stun. With an ult that restored my health. Good times."

Eh for one trynd being immune to death on the spawn pad isnt a big deal anyways if he is there you already lost the game lol. Secondly the big difference is for every "twitch was invis for 55 second like, or jax had a dodge stat i could give you a dozen other champs equally as strong for a reason. So while compared to now it might seem crazy back then relative to every other champion it wasnt crazy. You also didnt have wacked out items thrown into the mix as well.

Anidan9 votes

They did. Players just got better at abusing smaller mistakes over time. Back then, Kassadin had a 3 second silence attached to an 280 base damage, 80% AP scaling targetting nuke with longer range than a Caitlyn AA, and yet current Koggy and Xin are being hailed as some of the most broken things League has ever seen for some reason.

As the game has developed, the big mistakes stopped being made for the most part (at least, on that level) but smaller mistakes would still appear. Since the game has been out for years now, people have learned the insides and outs of the game, and so they can take those smaller mistakes and run with them almost as far they took those enormous mistakes years prior. It's like watching a fighting game evolve years later - the smaller balance decisions and mechanics changes start to mean a lot when you can start abusing them after you have a strong grasp on the mechanics of the game.

You missed the part about ninety-fucking-eight percent ban rate.

He was OP as bonkers, but in practice, you'd never play aganist him.

They were balanced in a way, though. If LB didn't get fed early, she was completely useless as she fell off VERY quickly due to the status of tanks/bruisers and how commonplace GA was.

Kass wouldn't take off if you punished him early. Once people started 9 (or 8, I forgot tbh) potions, this was a problem, though. Same with Akali/Morde/Swain/Vlad.

Also, they were the first two usually banned, and the others were often open to preference, as opposed to now where there are 10 champs you want to ban because they're either amazingly OP or annoying to play against.

Audiomancy1 votes

I don't remember LB being banned much until she got popular.

Kassadin's literaly 100% Pick/Ban ratio on the other hand was hilarious.

Exactly, the other thing people fail to realize is riot has slowly but surely GUTTED all of the old champs....just review the patch notes for the last 3years look at champs like warwick and fiddles for example they are ghosts of thier former selves. What people do not realize is that riot has imposed a "set rotation" of balance onto us. They don;t say it publicly, but they for a fact arbitrarily decide which champs are allowed to be good and thus the top tier for competitive play and which are not.

Here we go with yet another season of corki, EZ, lucien....MF almost squeaked in but they deleted her chances a few patches ago....can have an immobile unexciting champion sneak in, we got dash champs to force upon the meta. Riot not the player made this choice. Now yet another round of kog maw comps....riot decides this noone else. lee sin for 4 years baby!.

The Loveless6 votes

I don't think it's so much about catching up as it is fucking up. Last season was fine for the most part. They keep making horrible decisions with their choice of masteries and nerfs.

YCitizenSnipsY12 votes

This is said every season, people hate changes and complain about them. Season 3 was supposed to be the low point with the league of cleavers and warmongs followed by assassin meta and snow ball meta. Then season 4 was the low point because of jungle changes being to hard, super tanks like mundo, shyv, and the Renekon Bar, followed by the wave clear meta. Then it was season 5 for the dfg fiasco, mid lane EZ and the juggernauts.

Every year people say the same shit about how the game is ruined and every year its just gotten bigger. There has never been a point where there was real variety and not a hand full of strong champions. There has never been a point where a particular Item wasn't performing to well. There has never been a time where there wasn't one or two really bad and obnoxious champs. There has never been a time where reworks weren't complained about.

This shit is no different from any other year, the only thing that has changed is the look of the rift, some items, and who is currently strong.

Vistha Kai4 votes

I don't remember having 20 champions at sub-47% winrate and 10 champions with 15%+ pickrate with 53%+ winrates in prevoius seasons.

You may say it's a matter of perception, but since League of Cleavers this is the worst Season we've had.

Mael bro3 votes

Mid Ez with smite was only for a few weeks. Ahri, Viktor and Annie were perma picked mid, Katarina had 54% win rate at early S5, then they changed her passive and reduced her scalings on Shunpo.

YCitizenSnipsY3 votes

Oh I could name more, I left of mid gragas, season 4 khazix, pre rework rengar, attack speed slow lee sin, bruiser fizz. Le Blanc, Talon, and Kassadin all with silences. The list goes on.

Mael bro1 votes

Hah still remember how they removed Talons silence right out of nowhere, Talon wasn't even played that much. Leblanc on the other hand... Rengar was deemed "unplayable" post rework. Kha was extremely cheesy and disgusting. There is a reason why they haven't made him viable for nearly 1,5 years.

i have to agree. in season 3 and 4 i was using my bans on the counters to my teams picks...

now BOTH teams are using EVERY ban on OP champs...

Season 4 was an absolute nightmare, feral flare spirit stone was wayyyyy too op. Farm champs dominated solo queue, worse than sated devourer now. Lee and Elise running rampant in higher elos. And not to mention all the bullshit assassins. I think the game is in almost a perfect state right now, minus the assassin item.

There are threads like this season, and every season, who cares.

Balance fluctuates, the game fluctuates, people eventually stop whining like girls and adapt. Nothing new.

I remember way back when season 5 was just the worst season in existence.

Lets see:

Marksmen were over buffed, some are going through many changes as we speak.

Juggernauts came at the end of season 5, and they still aren't fixed in Season 6.

They are going to do Mages next... that includes Vel'Koz who wasn't even around for 2 years yet.

Items are crazy. They also favor AD champs with crit bonuses.

Illaoi.... (shivers)

Masteries were changed to favor AD champs.

The loss of Team Builder also the mixed feelings of the new Draft Pick.

The loss of Dominion. (Whether or not it was dying, its still a shock that now of all times its going away, and with no new fast paced mode to compensate.)

He's confirmed on the list. They say it will be similar to how Caitlyn was changed, but I'm not so sure.

TeCoolMage1 votes

Not true, I heard they were giving below Varus style changes to balance while reworking his visuals which apparently only the special champs get.

They kept emphasizing how tiny the updates were, and the fact it might be the smallest ever.

DrCyanide1 votes

Look up your sources again, because you're miss remembering them.

TeCoolMage1 votes

{quoted}

Nope. It seems your guys' expectations on how much we'll warp some of these champions just because they're in "the 6" is quite large and drastic. Guess it's understandable given some of our track record. It's important to consider that our changes have ranged from as small as Darius and Miss Fortune to as large as Mordekaiser and Graves.

Our current plans for Vel'Koz might literally be the smallest scope changes we've ever done in a class update. In fact, I could understand how some people may not even really perceive it as a significant update and more of a "patch note."

Either way, your downvotes are loud and clear. You don't really want Vel'Koz to change much. We don't really plan on moving Vel'Koz's core at all - just want to amplify what's already there.

You're right, Caitlyn was more of a 'patchnote' while Varus was a rework.

Is that really how you're going to try and justify still being Bronze in your 4th season of ranked?

HeadHonchkrow4 votes

He never said that lol

Slamurai Jack10 votes

He's heavily implying that he's only losing lane because of OP champs.

PLAYERS won lanes. Now, CHAMPIONS win lanes, largely regardless of skill.

Of couse it would be a bronze player saying something like this. Actual good players would be winning their lanes regardless of matchup until they're at an elo where they belong. I played mostly Aatrox while smurfing through gold. Riven has historically been considered an extremely strong Aatrox counter. And yet, I stomped pretty much every Riven I faced playing Aatrox every game because I was a Diamond quality player playing in Gold elo. If you're consistently losing to bronze Fioras in lane, then guess what? You're a bronze quality player. OP is merely trying to find another excuse for being Bronze that doesn't involve himself. "I can't climb because Rito's balancing sucks; too many OP champs!" No, you can't climb because you're bad at this game. Your champion choice and the enemies champion choice has nothing to do with it. Hell, I just got Diamond on my smurf a couple days ago playing Leona Top. If I can reach the same elo as my main playing Leona Top, then you can beat a bronze Fiora with whatever champ you choose to play.

why do people care about this game? You all act like youre gonna go pro one day and that the balance of the game actually matters to YOU specifically. Youre all likely pretty bad, and wont admit it. (Always exceptions to the rule though)

It doesnt matter what riot does in terms of balance. This game will never really change, you idiots just put everything under a microscope so you dont notice how small the changes really are. In your eyes EVERYTHING IS A BIG DEAL.

BIG DEALS TO LEAGUE PLAYERS: Balance (Rito plz nerf everything), TOXIC TOXIC TOXIC TOXIC (Buzzwords), streamers (Amazes me how idiots donate), acting like an entitled prick (Waaa im gonna ruin games because someone was mean to me etc etc, that list is huge).

Really, bottom line is that if you complain about balance at all youre an idiot. No insight you have is valuable in the slightest and to think otherwise just shows how much of an entitled snowflake idiot you really are.

As players of this game and, for many of us, investors of this game, we have the right to state our concerns. If you have any issue with that then you must have no idea how the planet works. Sooooo, you can only care about things you are going to go 'pro' in? Seems like an EXTREMELY illogical argument to me, coming from someone who, I hope, does't care about anything other than his professional career...because that is what your argument suggests.
