At what rank do Teemos actually become a real threat?

EkkoFroffles··2 votes·1,125 views

Because I main Garen, get "counter-picked" by Teemo a decent amount, and am 7-2 in those matches with my worst personal performance being 2/3/4. I'm Bronze V, so I obviously expect I'll face better Teemos as I rank up, but it just seems like people only ever pick him to "counter" the likes of Garen or to be a bit of a troll with all the shrooms. Does anyone take Teemo seriously enough to make this matchup more than just play it safe till 6, get MR, then go all in and stomp his squishy head with one combo? Or, like Garen, is he too much of a niche pick for me to have to worry?

Hihi,

I think it's a mystery in a lot of people to "counter".

I believe in any rank below mid gold, counter doesn't exist.

It's the mechanics/CS ability/shot calling/ward placement/objectives control/decision making that makes or breaks a game.

However, the majority doesn't realize that.

They see a Garen, they thought to themselves "I'LL GO TEEMO AND OWN THIS GAREN" not realizing that their knowledge to teemo is poor, they don't have much experience with Teemo, they don't know how to judge situations, they don't know how squishy teemo is, etc. In those cases, with much more experience on Garen, you will obviously dominate.

I mean, Garen counters Riven, but I've beaten quite a few Garens on Riven.

Counter means less when you are in lower elos.

At what rank does Teemo start becoming a threat?

When you face a Teemo main as a Garen, you will know.

See, I don't agree. I played Fiddles a lot last season. Barely got into gold. I played on a ranked team with mid Fid, and beat high plat level players. Some matchups actually are really favorable. Just because someone might suck with a champ doesn't mean counters don't exist lol.

I guess my point wasn't clear enough.

Counters do exist, just not in lower elos, and I consider Plat not low

You made your point clear. My point is that since I am rated silver 5, I am not high elo lol.

Welp, if you've played alot of fid, i'd say you are rather proficient with Fid.

I guess being able to beat Plat means that you played better than him plus the counter.

The point I was trying to make was that counters won't mean much unless the player already has strong knowledge to the champion.

garen isnt really counterpicked by teemo. they're both equally useless outside of lane and both have pretty strong lane phase. garen can just heal through all of teemos harass in lane so in the end it's a wash. teemo gives a little more map control and garen gives a decent front line and an execute, that's the main difference.

Garen does very well against a bad to decent Teemo - I honestly don't understand why he's a "Counter pick" to Garen as once Garen has MR he can sustain Teemo to death and just out farm him.

In my Garen match up's Teemo hasn't been a threat to me in lane, Teemos relevance is late game, where he can shroom objectives, shut down lanes, and enable his team to catch up if they are behind.

Having faced Garens as Teemo, I was able to play tag and they were dumb enough to chase - a good Garen will win the lane as Teemo can't sustain an assault. A bad Garen is food for the Teemo

Yeah, I "counter" Mord as Garen, but I think I've yet to win lane against one. If you don't know WHY you counter them, and how to do that, it does you zero good.

Somewhere between 19 and 30

Don't worry, though, he's plenty 'annoying' to get nerfs anyway.

I meant how high up in ranked. Silver? Gold?

Gold if used as an explicit counterpick (edit: by a Teemo main). Otherwise... Challenger maybe?

As Teemo player I have to say it's a myth that Teemo is a counter to Garen. Teemo can be won.

Take some resists with masteries/runes (Perseverance and Second Wind masteries will help you a lot). Start with Dorans shield - now it reduces not only damage from autoattacks (what is already nice), but from spells too. This will give you great sustain vs Teemo. Try to stay most time in bushes, then Teemo won't be able to poke you, and you will regen free with your passive. Come out of it, finish minion with Q and go back. If Teemo coming into this bushes - Q>W>E him and then go back. Buy Visage first item. After that you're almost impossible to kill for Teemo. If you think you can kill Teemo - do it, if you can't - farm or push.

Teemo will be threat on any rank. It's rare pick, but you'll meet him from time to time. And it's not pick just for counter, he works great with some combinations. He can be build in very various ways: from pusher-tank or pure glass-cannon-enemy-adc-oneshotter to high-cdr sapper, and that makes him rly fun to play.

you faced bad teemos, is all. there are plenty of those. I admit, i am not a good one either, but a better one. And then there's Manco, whom you dont wanna face ;)

if you face a good teemo as garen you will not win lane.

Garen can simply ignore Teemo. Proper build Garen will have enough sustain to do not worry about Teemos.

Counter picks don't exist below platinum. Playing your best champion is always better than playing something you read on the internet is a counter, because those websites don't know anything. You'll hear a lot of people say this, because it's true. (and everyone likes to repeat things they hear other people say if it sounds good)

Teemo has ruined games for me in Gold. It's all about who's playing him.

Honestly, at bronze 5, champion select is a joke. It's mostly a joke in silver, and I've never been in bronze, so I'm speculating a bit. But I imagine that a good player (gold +) could destroy the majority of their games in whatever champion they wanted in bronze 5. If there's an actual good teemo player, someone who really understands Teemo mechanics, they can be horrifying.

I don't understand how this is possible. Like do they see you running at them and sit still autoing you without moving backwards?

At level 6, when he becomes ungankable if he is a hard lane counter. As soon as he gets 1 or 2 AP items otherwise and you allow him to shroom freely.

Silver 2, 3/0 in Teemo in ranked, one game i had 20+ kills with barely any deaths, other game i had 19 or so, and the last game i was 3/1 cause enemy laner rage quit lol.

If all else fails, i just shroom our entire base so it's impossible to push it hard.
