why is ohmwrecker still here when zephyr is not?

11 November 2015, that is when zephyr got removed from the game for reasons that can be summed up as ''not used enough'' yet here we are in June of 2017 with ohmwrecker still around which I have never seen in game before yet I saw zephyr every 4/5 or so games, so why is this useless item still around?

and if it's because of refer a friend system than that's clearly irrelevant, you don't even respect your own employees items by removing Shurelya's Reverie so clearly removing it from a youtuber is no big deal either

I still call bullshit on Riot for their reasoning of "oh it wasn't used enough". I loved this item: CDR, AD, Atk Spd, MS, & the only other tenacity item in the game. I built this most of the time to replace my merc treads because it of that plus all of the other stuff mentioned.

Meanwhile, Ohmwrecker is still kind of a shit item to begin with, nobody I see ever builds or uses it, and Riot hasn't addressed about what to do with it that they're better off removing the damn thing and actually give the proper reason for "nobody builds this", especially with everyone complaining about how towers are already easy to take and don't provide enough damage.

I'd much rather take Zephyr 10/10 than Ohmwrecker. Hell, I always forget that item is still in the game.

I bet if someone in the LCS or Challanger to low plat show off what the item can do and show its secertly op and everyone starts using it thats when Rito start to make changes i mean look at item 3512 rember when the item came out no one was using it than that one player starts using it then the youtubers show it off now everyone uses it and riot had to smash its freaken legs its still a good item but not as common as it use to be

I thought everyone used it when it first came out (except for a few who simply didn't know it existed) but were disappointed because it had so many bugs and was only "somewhat" stat efficient

I think it's because it's referencing to a player called ohmwrecker who got 1000 referrals. Deleting it is like updating the jaximus vo/skin and removing the 'here's to you kid' line. I think the item needs a rework though.

Why does Ohm have to terminate towers when it could just have a more relevant and less intrusive active? Any tanky/bruiser item that has come out since Ohm was introduced could have just been called Ohmwrecker, homage is given and there isn't a goddamn joke item in the game anymore

Thing about Ohmwrecker is that it could actually be strong. Both the stats and active could be very nice if they weren't together. Problem is, anyone who wants those stats can tank tower anyways, since they're, y'know, a tank. Anyone who wants the active can't afford to take such tanky stats. Give it assassin stats and it's immediately broken on certain assassins. Give it a different active and I can totally see it being a viable tank support item. The overlap just makes it redundant or useless on every champion.

Ohmwrecker might be good if towers actually did something but right now they're nearly as much of a joke as the item itself.

they should just make it a defensive item for towers. Speed up their Attack speed or do AOE damage for a few seconds to either Help clear out the waves or damage champions. Or since riot likes snowballing make the tower attack it's ally's for a few seconds.

unfortunately this would also make the item nearly essential and would bring about a rush of tank supports and tank top laners or juggernaut top laners

the jungle wouldn't change its item sets until riot reworks it again

Ohmwrecker is still here because it was added as a reward to the youtuber "Ohmwrecker" for getting a certain number of referrals.

Shurelyas and the like were added as an homage to employees and community members.

Ohmwrecker is different; Riot made a deal with the community: get X referrals, get an item. Ohm did what they asked, so Riot is obligated to hold up their end of the deal.

but they are not, riot didn't follow through on the people who reached ''design your own champion'' tier in the old refer a friend system making it clear that riot is under no obligation to do or keep any old refer a friend system stuff

That doesn't seem right. A person once got enough referrals to design his own champion that would be put in game, but he gave the reward to the Make a Wish foundation where a kid who was sick and dying designed a champion. Riot never made the champion though.

I don't see why they would keep their end of the deal for an item no one really uses, and not for a champion made by a kid on his death bed.

I built it frequently on Irelia and wonder the same thing, it wasn't broken, underpowered, or causing any problem in the game, it was the only other item that offered Tenacity aside from merc's, and it by far wasn't the least bought item in the game. The only time I've ever even seen an Ohmwrecker was in that random build challenge that I can't remember the name of, yet we lose a viable item while keeping a forgotten and near useless one instead. I don't know why Zephyr was removed but I don't think Rito was telling the truth with this "not used enough" reasoning.

They literally just nerfed its build path to buff banner. Riot is making this thing suck on purpose. People have given suggestions for alternate effects for years now and they're falling on deaf ears. Ohmwrecker is just going to be a permanent troll item at this point :V

Has anyone mentioned Zephyr was removed because riot wanted to nerf splitpushing? Because thats the real reason why it was removed. It was an item specifically for splitpushers, a playstyle riot didnt want to encourage.

someone asked them in one of their threads recently when they were talking about tank itemization. it was in response to a question in the thread itself not in the actual post they made.

I don't remember exactly WHERE i saw it, but i distinctly remember them saying that ohmwrecker is just going to be flat out removed eventually. they feel it has no place in the game.
