What the hell am i supposed to do against Trundle as Illaoi ?

I was completely trashing him early in the game with 4 kills by 6 minutes and a CS lead. He gets 1 good gank and a cutlass and dueling him went from me coming out with half health to him coming out with 75% health while I had 3 tentacles smashing down on him AND my ultimate active, and his soul ripped out as well (I must have grabbed him at least 6 times in the first 10 minutes) . (FYI he was horrible at sidestepping my tentacles even at point blank range.)) I was expecting to get outscaled but not being able to get him below 75% health was pretty fucking surprising considering I had a CS and overall gold lead at the time. I've always built Gauntlet > Cleaver > Tank. By the time I had finished my gauntlet he barely had a cutlass and boots. I seriously don't understand. Anyways what the hell did I do wrong? I didnt pick her into him (as I said i was expecting to get outscaled not become irrelivant because he had a bit of lifelsteal. If asking for ganks is brought up i did actually, some (most of the ones I run into) Bronze junglers dont know how gank lanes after someone dies once to them. My jungler was busy running around in circles/getting killed)

rushing armor isn't good against him because he'll just steal it from you once he gets ult. you want to get arm pen first

So should I just build raw AD ? I mean her damage isn't exactly consitant but I've seen a pro player build nthing but AD on her and it worked

Its more due to that specific matchup. Personally I don't think item 3025 is good on Illaoi in most games because I believe Illaoi needs item 3065 and item 3071, but that is beside the point. Since Trundle steals your resistances with his Ult, rushing a bunch of armor (and no health) against him leaves you fairly squishy. If you're winning that lane Black Cleaver is probably your best bet. Otherwise I'd suggest something like Sunfire Cape.

I mean, Black Cleaver first against Trundle for sure. Spirit Visage and Death's Dance together wouldn't hurt.

his Q reduces your damage and steals ad from you, his ult steals your armor and mr he gets sustain for ever unit that dies *passive * and his W gives him more sustain and attack speed.

he is an anti tank/duelist

also he is/was gold 5

and he out damage his entire team... and you really shouldnt try to fight him 1 vs 1

true damage hurts him , healing reduction.

look at the champ you were playing... that champ nearly fuks any one in laning phase...

but funny thing I have beating octobitch Illaoi with Nunu I didn't give too shits about her damage cuz I just Q her tentacle or minion and heal ...

Engage on him, wait for him to blow his ult and then bail.

Then fight him when his ult is on cooldown.

Use your range and bully him as much as you can pre-Ult.

Once he reaches level 6 and get his Ult, that is the great equalizer and why he is so good against other beefy melee Champions at Top. So you'll want to get as big of an advantage as you can before that happens.

Get an Executioner's Calling (800g), applies Grievous Wounds on any instance of physical damage (which Illaoi's entire kit is), no cooldown or any other requisites. Helps reduce his massive sustain. Afterwards, building into Cleaver should help shred through his armor.

Also, if you specifically know you're going against him (AKA, Draft/Ranked), then take Exhaust or Ignite. Ignite if you're more confident, Exhaust if you're less so. It should help mitigate his strengths, and Exhaust particularly so when he ults.
