TF had a global stun, which is much stronger than anything camille, leblanc, rengar, etc can do. There was once a champion that could near perma-stealth and stun you on their first hit from stealth. Camille might outclass almost every champ atm, but putting her against an old TF or Amu would slaughter her. Damage in general used to be a lot faster, and there was a lot less you could do to avoid it. Even Camille has way more counterplay than season 3 Kassadin for example, who would silence you for > 2 sec and blink away after bursting you down with no chance to fight back.

The game also used to have a lot more AoE instant burst burst damage, so amu's aoe CC was very useful - all of the delays on most champs' full damage now makes it less of an automatic win button, but in its time it was very strong.

Old season's perma bans are way stronger and bs-oriented than today's by a HUGE margin.
