Does Zed even need the AD scaling on his ult?

For someone with one of the arguably safest assassin kits, why does his ult have an AD% scaling at all? The whole point is he goes in and Marks you for death. The whole point is he has to do damage for the Mark trigger to actually do damage. So why does it need an AD% scaling at all that makes it almost entirely irrelevant in some cases? It's different from pretty much every other massive burst assassin ult.

Talon/Rengar/Kha'zix/Akai/Nocturne have to go in. Kat/Xerath/Malzahar have to stand still uninterrupted without Zhonya's. Yasuo has to go in and only if they've been knocked up first. Riven's ult does almost nothing by itself because it scales with % missing health meaning she has to actually work for it. So on and so forth.

So why does someone with an ult that safe and an inherent passive that handles said missing health incredibly powerfully even need an AD% scaling at all in the first place? Focus all the damage from the ult on the copy-nuke. If he doesn't actually work for it, no need to reward him.

um yes, if he didnt have it, they'd have to buff his other damage much more, otherwise his reliability falls really hard.

He has an insanely weak late game compared to some other assassins. Talon can pretty much instakill a squishy with his combo, Zed however needs to ult in and get his damage out which takes more time with less reliable escape given his ult range and the power of late game carries where they have exhaust, lifesteal, heals and shields.

Both of them will still kill the squishy easily. But Talon is now in their team, while Zed just blinks back out.

Zed will not, try playing Zed against any good support player and you lost. Ult the squishy, you get exhausted the squishy gets shielded and you can't get a kill and will probably be CC'ed and die immediately because you have no invis or blink out that casts instantly. Zed cannot do reliable damage nor assassinate anyone late as long as the other team isn't playing with only one hand each. Hell I saw a Vayne 1v1 a Zed late game because they just condemned Zed back after he ulted and used their lifesteal to heal up and kill Zed.

not really ult E and auto kills a squishy late game you don't need a crazy combo to kill a squishy.

If the squishy is smart enough they will use lifesteal and their dash. And the E only does around 300 damage or so unless you build pure damage without any defensive items. Your auto plus E won't kill them you will need the proc from ult which if the support is near they will use shields and heals. ADC's are usually the target so they will probably have heal and flash up unless you get lucky.

not everyone has a dash

Almost any good ADC right now does. Ezreal, Lucian, Graves technically is an ADC, Cait can jump, Trist, Kalista, Kindred, Vayne. Sivir can use spell shield as well. Point is Zed late game is just weak because there are so many ways to kill him before he can do anything.

I hate the massive fire-and-forget damage on Zed's ult. I wish they'd do what they did with Malzahars, delete the base damage. Then adjust the damage amplification to make him have to stick on his target to fuel up the boom.

Malzahar is no longer an assassin

Also is that a yes for "Yea let him keep it" or yes for "Yea remove the ratio"?

Either way I'd rather him keep it so some AD laners can dominate in the wake of the MYMU

Yes = He needs No = He doesn't
