She needs an identity, she has no niche. A few years back Miss Fortune would be used in wombo combo comps but after scaling changed and ultimate nerfs that is no longer the case. Sure she is a lane bully but is that really a niche. When I think of Miss Fortune I think of her passive "strut". With the recent change to Miss Fortune's W "impure shots" a case can be made that Riot sees it that way too. So why not build on her passive and make it more impactful. For years players have expressed the desire for ranged minion aggro to not deactivate strut yet such a change has never been made. I love Miss Fortune, I want to see her played in competitive play, but in order for that to happen she needs more help, why not try expanding on her passive a bit more.

LaowPing9 votes

This. SOOOOO much of this. MF is a strong ADC, she just doesn't do anything specific. Her early game damage is good and her mid game damage is better than the majority of ADC's he just doesn't have a specific thing that makes her stand out from other ADC's, which is why many people think she's weak. A buff to strut would be great. She's a pirate hunter for gods sake, she should be chasing people down and getting the heck out once she's down. Making strut a little more durable would go a LONG way. But numbers wise, she's a good ADC which is probably why people Riot is scared of buffing her.

A Miss Fortune3 votes

I once again, agree completely with you Laow.

I think people don't realize how strong Miss Fortune truly is, and it gets pretty old when every day I see a new post on the Boards complaining about how she's terrible and can't do anything.

If for some reason Riot did something like gave her ultimate 100% physical damage, and also allowed it to scale with even 10% of her AD, you would notice an enormous change in how powerful she is and if by any chance she was ever given the mobility like a simple, high cooldown dash, she would probably be a highly contested pick.

Yeah, with the new addition to her Q, I love the feeling that just one Double Up chunks people so hard. 2 - 3 Doubled Up crits will either kill someone or force them to back if they aren't already executed by your ultimate.

The new feature is awesome and I believe that people don't realize how easy it is to actually execute a minion and bounce it.

Of course it's "easy" to execute a minion and get the bounce, but this skill is not reliable, there's a big chance you'll miss the bounce, the minion kill for 150% damage is yet another condition for the skill to succeed. Besides, it's use in 1v1 is to AA reset because the skill itself cannot critical strike, wich means that in late game, your AAs can possibly deal more damage without explicit conditions.

A Miss Fortune1 votes

It's use in a 1v1 is for the extra burst and instant auto attack reset.

I don't know how you play Miss fortune but hitting her Double Ups even with the execute is really easy.

did you even read my post? I mentioned the AA reset. Double Up's Burst comes on the second hit, given that the skill doesn't crit by itself, In late game, your AAs have the chance of dealing more damage because of critical chance and IE, this is a FACT. You can and will see big numbers in the bounce if you kill the first target sure, but there's no "burst" in late game when your AA can outdamage your first double up hit. Don't say you just have to use it for the bounce because it's not realistic. Chances are you're going to duel someone smart enough not to be around minions or dying targets, meaning you can't possibly take into consideration that Double up WILL get this bonus damage all the time in the late game.

While being a "buff", it's situational. If the skill itself was changed to enable criticals in it's formula instead of this situational damage by execute you could factor it in late game damage. It's a beauty to use in lane when you master it but other than that it's just an AA reset outside Lane.

Technically the 50% damage isn't a crit either, so if you could land those together... oh boy.

Leu072 votes

Nono, Maybe I'm not explaining myself clearly. The 150% damage shows like a critical if you kill the first target. It's just a band-aid as of why the skill doesn't crit. A much simpler solution would have been not to add that 150% damage execute component but just allow the skill itself to crit. Like....if the first hit criticals, the second will critical as well, get my drift?

The problem with Q is it is worthless late game. I've been playing somce S2 and used to main MF. Q late game is almost always out damaged by just AA's, and the reason is because while the reset on Q is amazing early game, it does not scale with attack speed. Essentially, by the time you fire that Q, you could have just auto'd twice, with the chance to crit on those.

In lane phase double up is awesome. I dislike that they took out how it used to prioritize champions, but the trade off is the execute. I think that is cool because it rewards you for last hitting and having skillful positioning. The problem is if you go up against anyone who knows what they are doing, it is incredibly difficult to land the Q, especially since the radius was also lowered to 60.

I'd love if MF had some kind of niche late game. In order to really make her useful, you need a team comp built around using her ult. And even if you have that, you are still vulnerable for the while duration, and the ranp up time to actually be doing any real damage is quite awhile. And I am totally okay with her being vulnerable! I think that is actually a good trade off for having such a cool aoe ult! The problem is the damage is just so lack luster, I often wonder if I should have just auto'd instead.

Her ult scales with AP, and kind of AD thanks to impure shots. The impure shots scaling is absurdly low though, same goes for AP. It had the cool noche of applying black cleaver stacks, but then you are forced to buy a black cleaver which is lack luster, especially since a good portion of your damage is magic.

If you want AOE on the team, Graves burst combo is safer and more reliable, and jinx is simply always a good pick with AOE crit rockets.

Finally someone that brings up the AS problem for double up in Late game. Weaving double Up while AAing after 1.6 AS feels so weird

With Bullet time though, the whole mix of damage is what makes it kind of unique, but there's no item with double pen and she gets no free stats if she exploits her hybrid damage component like Jax or Akali. It ramps up to possibly an amazing damage output (384% in the perfect scenario), but to get 8 stacks to achieve this is just too much, the number is too damn high. That's why impure shots need to be reduced back to 5 and increase the ad scaling with R instead of the possible stack amount T_T!

That would help a lot as well actually. I really don't mind the weak points on her kit. I'm cool with E having a cast time, I am okay with Q being a harder to use lucian Q essentially, and I actually like strut a lot, whether it stays her passive or moves to an ability. Her damage is awkward however as far as scaling goes. Ult scaling is just kinda silly with too much ramp up time, and Q needs to scale with attack speed. You are literally losing damage late game if you ever use your Q and THAT feels like poor design. I should not feel bad about using my abilities.

Strut isn't her Identity, Impure shots and her team-fighting ability with also dealing magic damage via autoattacks is her Identity.

Her passive is the number one reason why MF players have been voicing concern over the years and is her Achilles heel in part also because it has no cohesion to how she is played.

Now I do agree that her passive can be built to be made more impactful to her kit, but for that to happen. Strut has to go.

One part of the MF players want the passive to be given the Garen treatment (certain lvl it then becomes immune to minions).

Another part wants a more impactful change, be it removal of passive or give her dashes blah blah.

This is just like the Cassiopeia discussions, which I was a part of and just sours my mouth to think about how it divided everyone when the way people think of how it should have been done and those of us that were left behind.

Enough that derail though.

tl;dr:

Strut isn't her Identity. Impure shots is her identity.

Impure shots is just a steroid, how can it be her identity? Sure, it's important to have a steroid, but unless it's something really mechanically unusual like Draven axes, it can't really be an identity.

IMO Bullet Time is her real signature move; it needs to be buffed to Vel'koz levels or beyond, to make a really big reward for players and teams who succeed in setting it up. It needs to do noticeably more damage than Ez/Draven/Jinx to make up for the short range and long channel. (The fact that it goes through multiple targets instead of being blocked already distinguishes it from Lucian and potentially balances out his ability to move.)

Renegade Angel952 votes

Impure shots is not just a "steroid". It's her magic damage and the primary reason her ult starts to hurt like he after you've stood in it for a second. Bullet time might be what most people consider the identity but for me it's the impure shots. And before it was grevious wounds but we can't have that anymore can we?

If you think impure shots is only a steroid you don't understand the kit.

Impure shots is a big part of her identity though, or at least Riot wants it to be. It's not just a steroid, it's a HUGE part of her damage, to access her full damage potential you need to stack impure shots, Q applies impure shots, ulti applies impure shots and it's damage increases depending on how many impure shot stacks are in the targets hit. In a perfect world where the entire enemy team has 8 impure shot stacks and sits like a duck as MF Ults, they get 1000 physical damage+384% of her AD as magic damage.

However, the more I think about it, this whole new Impure shots mechanic became detrimental to her, here's why:

As the game progresses, R unlocks more impure shot stacks. On paper, this seems awesome because you keep gaining damage, however.....you have MORE conditions to get this boost. It's like oh here's a long ladder for you to access your true damage potential that doesn't benefit from you getting armor penetration or lifesteal. If you look at Sivir for example, On the Hunt's passive clearly aids Ricochet, it provides Sivir with MORE AS while ricochet is active so she can get off those enhanced auto attacks easier in a fight or a duel. With MF it's a counterproductive mechanich. This can be fixed in many ways and I don't know if Riot has tried them or not, but we get no feedback either

Impure shots could be reworked in many ways to keep it in her gameplay. Off the top of my head: Swap Strut and Impure shots, Impure shots becomes her passive, her AAs deals extra bonus magic damage with a fixed AD ratio that scales up at lvl 11 and 16, stacking up to 5 per target the entire game. She Laughs when she reaches 5 stacks on a target for clarity. Strut's aditional MS keeps being a passive and the active is the AS steroid Strut can't be lowered below 35 for the 6 seconds.

Keep Impure shots in W, R doesn't add more stacks, it just increases the AD ratio passively to 7%/8.5%/10% to reach a similar damage cap (it's currently 36% max, 42% max, 48% max). This makes her damage potential crystal clear and her ult's damage more reliable if she gets it off

Rework Make it rain to have it take into account applying Impure shots.

You're right though, when Vel'koz came out my immediate thought was that MF should be able to redirect the cone just like he does lol

Thank you! She doesn't need a full blown rework, they just needs to move things around to make everything more cohesive and solidify her identity as a champion

Khell DarkWolf1 votes

I think what should be done is her playstyle and kit should reflect more to what she is doing while addressing the issues in the past.

An example:

MissFortune Miss Fortune

  • Passive removed
  • Movespeed increased to 335 (up from 325 live servers)
  • New passive added: Shock & Awe

Passive - Shock & Awe: Shock: For every 5% of bonus attack speed you gain from outside this passive and outside Impure shots' active, you gain 0.5 points of flat Magic penetration. Awe: For every 1 point of flat Magic penetration you gain outside this passive, you gain 1.25% of bonus attack speed.

Double-Up [Q]:

  • Changed to a skill shot
  • Bounce mechanic removed
  • Upon colliding with a target after it is fired, the projectile splinters into a spray of shrapnel onto the target and behind it in a cone dealing damage (Think of Lissandra Q and Graves Ult blended together on a smaller scale)
  • Graphic animation could be a (recolored/altered) version of the new Bullet Time textures for the explosion spray

Impure Shots [W]:

  • Strut steroid mechanic removed

Make it Rain [E]:

  • Mana cost reduction per level OR
  • Flat mana cost reduction OR
  • Applies Impure Shots' stacks

Bullet Time [R]:

  • Autoattacking while channeling no longer cancels the channel of Bullet Time (Press [R] again to stop or wait until channel is finished)

So a Synapses:

MF is nimble enough that she is along side the speeds of Sivir Sivir , Quinn Quinn , Jayce Jayce , Lucian Lucian since strut is removed.

New passive doesn't stack upon itself, but is unique enough that it scales upon what her kit currently emphasizes on what she does. Not major, just icing on the top.

Double-Up [Q] isn't just an autoattack reset and confined to laning phase bouncing mechanics, but it now has more opportunity uses after the laning moving into mid/late game.

Quality of life changes to Make it Rain [E] and Bullet Time [R].

I personally think would be solid in her dealing small to larger AoE scale fighting and consistent DPS in Ad/Magic.

You're actually quite true, with the exception of Kalista. Miss Fortune has an above average damage output and there's not really any ADC who necessarily counters her from early - mid game aside from Kalista, who I believe is a 90% pick/ban in the LCS currently due to how overpowered she is.

I normally would never play Ranked, especially on NA, though recently I tried it with Miss Fortune and actually I've had absolutely no problem at all in carrying games with Miss Fortune. I actually just finished one where I went 14-1 and got 3 kills before 4 minutes into the game.

Miss Fortune is really strong and even if she's not played in the LCS, it doesn't dictate her power level by any means. Urgot was considered trash-tier and was literally the biggest joke of League of Legends, now people want him nerfed and even Riot said he's a super toxic champion. And you saw how Ryze went, people thought he was still trash-tier after his buffs, and then he went onto becoming pick or ban.

The meta can change at the drop of a hat, and in no way should a champion's popularity ever determine how powerful they are.

The "meta" is a determining factor on how Riot balances the game though. And they take ranked games into consideration when balancing champions. The community even complains about this. The Ryze situation is proof of this, same goes for Devourer and it's shenanigans when it's sated. Haven't you noticed that, if a champion isn't picked in the higher elos they tend not to be a priority in balance? There are currently two exceptions I can think of

Poppy http://champion.gg/champion/Poppy She's a champ that hasn't been touched and the last QoL change she got was the direction of E tooltip. We KNOW she's in the pipeline for a full VU because of her outdated visuals and, in the right hands, broken kit. She has a 50% win rate. By those stats, you could say that Poppy doesn't really need a kit fix, yet, she's getting one. Why? because she has problems that need to be addressed.

Same goes for Fiora , 52% win rate, getting a rework because, in the right hands, she's a toxic champion.

I could go own, but here's my point.

In the right hands, MF can be a beast, you're right saying that she's above average in some stats against other adcs. But Pick rate and popularity directly show that if you dedicate to master another champion with the same conviction as MF, you'll get more rewards by doing so.

She SHOULD shine in a coordinated team (LCS), because, for her to work properly, she needs special circumstances to be met, like Lockdown compositions for her ult, A shield style of support or utility mage like Orianna, lulu, Karma or Lux for her Strut. And yet, you never see her in the pro play scenario or in high elo ranked games, why? because she's outclassed in every possible niche she can go in and other ADCs bring the same or more to the team than she does without that many drawbacks.

Riot has tried to fix her kit two times now and she's still in the same spot as before if not worse

LaowPing1 votes

You're LCS example is a bit off. Sure, pro players can provide lockdown for her but they can counter her as well. Her ult takes too long to fully fire so you would need a long lasting lockdown like a Leona ult in order to to deal with it. And at that point people would just start picking morgana and counter it. Or they can just have someone who can dive in and or even better, just pick gragas and have him ult when MF does. Also not sure what you mean by "Pick rate and popularity directly show that if you dedicate to master another champion with the same conviction as MF, you'll get more rewards by doing so." Pick rate doesn't show what champions are necessarily better. Graves's pick rate is higher than MF's but his win rate is lower for example.

You're sort of proving my point though. It's too much of a risk and too easy to counter and play against if you dare to pick MF in pro play. And while other ADCs may have the same issues she does with assassins and CC, they bring much more to the table with less drawbacks or situational needs. And I think this is a core problem about MF.

It's funny that you mention Leona though, that's my preferred lane for when I play MF, the sinergy in their kits is so good that my win rate in that particular lane is about 90% in platinum elo with my duo partner. You can try and counter with Morgana or Janna but the damage combination and lockdown possibilities can overcome this "counter" pretty easily.

In most cases, even with those that follow the herd, the usual notion is "I'm going to pick Graves or Jinx or Sivir over Miss Fortune because they're better than her"

Urgot got a buff to his shield. The LCS players picked him up a week later and he's been a low % pick for a few guys who want a tanky ADC to counter specific matchups.

Ryze was not considered trash tier by the LCS players. The first day the update patch hit the tournament servers there were 3 first picks of Ryze and 2 bans, and Ryze won (EU LCS).

Maybe solo queue has no clue, but professional players and their analysis teams study the patch notes looking for advantages they can gain. Sivir's MS ultimate is a utility skill and Strut is useless to the team (it won't be viable unless it's made into an AOE effect or into a personal dash). MF's ultimate makes her stand still for all the skillshots as if she wasn't vulnerable enough. Unless or until they boost her utility or mobility, she's not going to get LCS time. Riot has already shown that they won't let her be a high damage ADC with the nerfs to her ultimate a while back.

Edit: Also, MF's capabilities are greatly hampered in a lane swap scenario. Things that might work in Solo Queue (with anecdotal 14-1 scores, for example) don't work the same way in a professional match. That Nasus split-pusher is going to spend the first 20 minutes being denied in a 2 v 1 while the Maokai keeps up in CS. Any ADC with a lane bully reputation is going to get swapped on, and Miss Fortune doesn't have a late game like Caitlynn does.

To some extent, THIS POST! However a few things that I think are worth noting

The ulti was nerfed because of Black Cleaver, while adding the impure shots mechanics to sort of "keep" an AD ratio (IMO a weird decision). If she had her natural AD ratio like before, Bullet time would be worth the risk ): Also, with proper changes I think Strut could be viable though, it's just that currently, the passive is lackluster and too easy to deny (freaking MINION DAMAGE). It's not about Strut not bringing any team utility, it's about Strut not bringing much to MF's table at the moment

About the split pushing thing, weren't the buffs to impure shots AS reverted because she became a beast at siege? This whole rebalance of MF was swept under the rug so hard -_-

What she needs is a true rework. I used to play her a lot (I love pirate themes) but she just cant keep up with other champs. I don't personally believe her damage is on par with any other adc in the game currently (maybe Lucian though idk.) The only time ive ever seen a MF do substantial damage or even keep up with the game was when she was AP and that doesn't seem right for an ad carry. I just feel like, you wanna play mf? why wouldn't you just play jinx, or graves, or kalista, or even ashe? they do everything she does but better.

Whenever I'm forced to ADC, not often luckily, I always WANT to play Miss Fortune because she's a cool champion and I like her abilities. But then I always end up settling on Ashe or Sivir

Ashe has Utility up the bum Sivir has AoE up the bum Draven has plain Damage up the bum Vayne/Kog'Maw have health shred up the bum Caitlin/Tristana/Jinx have range up the bum Ezreal/Graves/Lucian/Corki/Varus have high powered abilities up the bum

What I'm saying is, Miss Fortune needs something up the bum.

Is my exact point. theres nothing she can do that someone else cant do but much better.

She could be the AoE mixed damage up the bum adc but corki already fits that role pretty well besides poking ):

Hybrid damage up the bum. Have her magic damage crit and give her passive magic penetration per level of strut. Have her be what she truly is on the inside: A burst AD caster lane bully that turns into a hybird damage utility duelist late game.

Sorry guys, but Mf is a total outcast in riot's favorite cool kids, she will not be allowed to be as viable as Sivir or Vayne, she is just a sitting duck in Teamfights with not really a lot of damage, some people say that her MS helps her roam and stuff, bullshit, why would you roam as an adc if your job is to farm and scale? her roams and ganks must be so powerful... that E is definetely gonna get someone, her chase potential is pretty lackluster aswell, in TF she can not do any cleanup unlike Vayne or Tristana for instance, MF is just a hipster pick that really doesn't have much use, pick another champ.

Holy shit lets look at some numbers.

Compared to Jinx, .5% more damage on average. Compared to Vayne, 5.7% more damage on average. Compared to Ashe, 4.3% more damage on average Compared to Kalista, 11% more damage on average.

Jinx we can pretty much throw out because the difference is so negligible. Vayne while dealing less damage by nearly 6% will kill tanks faster and overall a safer champion. Ashe being a utility carry dealing less makes sense, but Ashe warps her team's composition around her ultimate while MF should be played because you picked this AoE centric lockdown comp. Now Kalista will always be in a good spot unless her damage goes nearly away because of her absurd objective control and being able to throw around allies.

Now if we look at average win rates MF's win rate is only higher than Kalista's and that is by .64%. Which isn't much.

And if (Jinx less so than others) if these champs were to fall behind they have tools in their kit which still lets them be relevant. Vayne's safety, Ashe's CC, Kalista's objective control + safety. I would rather have any of them on a team over MF.

That's nice and all, but I only commented on her damage. And MF does more on average per game than they do.

Alright, lets actually translate these to damage.

Compared to Jinx: Miss Fortune deals 1 more damage for every 200 damage dealt. Compared to Vayne: Miss Fortune deals roughly 6 more damage for every 100 damage dealt. Compared to Ashe: Miss Fortune deals roughly 9 more damage for every 200 damage dealt. Compared to Kalista: Miss Fortune deals roughly 11 more damage for every 100 damage dealt.

Outside of Kalista these numbers are almost insignificantly small.

All right, that's better.

http://champion.gg/champion/MissFortune

She also gets more kills than all the named ADCs but Vayne, and has above average stats in general for an ADC, with only her survivability being poorer than average (she dies a bit too often).

This "Miss Fortune sucks and is in desperate need of buffs" meme is getting really old. She's in a pretty decent spot.

Then please enlighten us why she isn't picked more often in both ranked games above Silver and in pro play against these champions she's above in both damage and kill rate?

She actually is, she isn't as popular though mind you that popularity is totally irrelevant to a champion's overall power.

You can have a champion as broken as Rek'sai on release, but she can still be one of the least popular champions in the entire game.

Miss Fortune sees a fair amount of play in higher elos and I believe she still has above average kills and damage output.

Let's not forget how Varus and Twitch are higher than MF in the Damage Dealt Per Game tab, and both are picked WAY less than she is. Having more games to factor in gives you a more accurate representation of how much damage they actually deal. Basically, Vayne's and Jinx's total damage output is more accurate than any others in that link.

If we go to pick rates and whatnot, MF is spiking because of the patch, the dust needs to settle for Statistics to be accurate enough to use them in an argument lol. Besides her pickrate is almost nonexistant in ranked games above Gold Division

simple change.

DO NOT LET MINIONS TURN OFF HER DAMN PASSIVE.

buffed, huge buff infact.

What the f*ck do you mean by 'New MF'? They literally just nerfed her W and called it a rework. Or do you mean the time before that when Riot completely gimped her Ultimate?

Jamener3 votes

So I just realized that removing Grievous Wounds from Impure Shots and replacing it with auto-strut-activation is absolute garbage. The Strut passive is still removed the instant you are touched and its 70 MS is barely even noticeable anyways. They took a lot of her dueling potential away by doing this.

I used to pick MF into heavy healing champs like Mundo or Nidalee because that awesome active would keep the rest of my team from being forced to bring ignite. Now MF is just another ADC without a niche that isn't as good as the top-tiers.

I disapprove of these changes. MF was perfectly fine before.
