I was wrong about Kassadin

Made a thread a few days ago (http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/YudEuHZz-kassadin for reference) where I claimed he as actually rather weak. Honestly, I was wrong. Granted I've not got enough games in to say with certain, scientific certainty but i was incorrect about his ability to preform. His lane phase is better than I expected, his mid/late game scaling and damage is surprisingly strong and by late game he's the same 'ol "One and done" Kass I remember from way back then.

I underestimated his scaling and didn't take into account nor properly respect his ult damage (simply because, back in the day when I played him his ult damage was not that big of a thing to think about.) So..my bad! I concede my mistake. What got me curious was seeing him, as much as I am ashamed to admit it, do well in worlds. Then I looked up more 5.18/5.19 gameplay of him from pro streams and such where he has been doing over all pretty well.

Give him a try. His early game isn't the strongest but you have enough sustain in terms of mana to freely poke down enemies and by the time you're six you have enough damage to one combo them from about half Hp and it only get's stronger from there. I got my boy back. i'm really, really happy.

Just felt like I should admit when I was wrong and correct myself. I'm not about circlejerking after all, the number of upvotes on my old thread mean nothing to me. Doesn't make me right. GL hf.

I am on a big kassadin hype after I started playing him mid in ranked and got suprisingly good success even when my laning is horrible (I play mainly support and jungler :P). But even when im against a bad lane matchup I always end up being really strong in the mid to late game.

I generally take Flash/Ignite or Flash/Teleport, rush item 3027 and go second item item 3285 with soc boots. Third item usually item 3157 or maybe item 3089 if things are going really well. Further than that i couldnt go yet because the game was over by then ><.

He's a great laner with item 2041 + Pots start, because mana sustain with W. Beware of playing vs AD champions though because kassadin (obvly) works best vs Magic damage :)

we all know that his late game scaling is strong, did you see his AP ratio? but what kassadin can do with 3 items, fizz and leblanc can do it with one item

Rush ROA on any mage, then complain about no burst...

Tear isn't that bad as an item on Kassadin. Sure, he charges it slightly slower than some others, but he needs mana to use his ultimate multiple times in a fight. Not only that, his ultimate damage scales off of maximum mana (2%, plus 1% per subsequent Riftwalk) and he recovers more mana with his W (enabling even more uses of his ultimate). He's also heavily late-game focused even with regular AP items, so you're not losing out on much early to mid-game power by building two stacking items.

Don't forget that AAS / Seraph's Embrace also gives a hefty chunk of AP alongside the mana, especially when combined with Rod of Ages and perhaps one more mana-based item (Lich Bane, Iceborn Gauntlet or Frozen Heart, depending on how tanky you need to be).

I mained Kassadin for quite a while, victim of circumstance really since while I really do like him (I love all aps that can use lichbane in fact) it was more the fact that I got two of his skins as a mystery gift from my friend that made me play him so much over the other midlaners.

And I CANNOT for the life of me think of a good enough reason to use him over Fizz (Which got changed but is still strong) Leblanc (Which is just a nightmare when fed) and Ekko (My favourite new champion by far and the one I have the highest mastery with)

Yeah his early's not bad actually, mostly because your Q while dealing low damage is unavoidable, and you can stay in lane quite a while with your W mana refill, but he's just so incredibly unsatisfying because of his low damage and freakingly high cooldowns on basic abilites that I just feel bad every time midgame comes around when I play him because I know I could be more usefull to my team if I picked another champion.

And yeah, general rule: Do not build both ROA and Tear, or you're gonna spend most of the game waiting for your items to stack up (and the only ability that can be spammed to load up tear at maximum efficiency is R)
