Remember when lux was balanced?

Faded Lich··12 votes·1,429 views

You know, before they removed all the counter play from her kit such as the E delay or the damage reduction on the second hit of the Q, that kinda thing? Yeah..wtf riot. Now you just have a mage with the 3rd longest range in the game, with low CDs, high AP ratios, decent to high base damage, low CDs and you've effectively removed all counter-play you could use in lane, which is allowing her to snow ball and win extremely easy, to the point mejia's is now considered core on her.

The fuck riot?

"removed all counterplay"? I wasn't aware they turned lux from an all skillshot champion with high cooldowns to a point and click champion with low cooldowns.

All skillshots =/= difficult to play. Her E is almost impossible to dodge now, and she can easily 100-0 you if she gets a small lead and lands a Q.

That's neat. Are you hitting her back when she's harassing? No? Are you pushing her to turret since her waveclear sucks? No? Are you pulling the wave to your own turret since she dies instantly to a gank if she over extends? No?

What exactly is the counterplay you want her to have? Should it just always be whatever kind of counterplay you personally are good at or enjoy, or just the kind that the champions you feel like playing are strong at?

Rysophage2 votes

why are you getting hit by Qs? learn to juke.

SaltyKracka2 votes

Let's unpack this. Are you saying it's impossible for a champion that is all skillshots to be OP?

The Sword Saint4 votes

Let's unpack this. At what point did you confuse 'counterplay' with 'balance'?

Counterplay refers to actions you can take in the game. Balance refers to numeric tuning.

A champion with four point and click long range spells lacks counterplay even if the spell all only do 10 damage. A champion with four skillshots has counterplay even if all four abilities do 10k damage. In both cases the situation is clearly not ideal for different reasons.

This is because counterplay and balance are different things.

SaltyKracka2 votes

Okay, cool.

I keep running into these idiots who spout things that sound an awful lot like "X has mostly skillshots/only skillshots, if you lost that just means X was better than you/you suck/you don't know how to dodge skillshots", so I thought I'd check.

Dude...it's not like her E is as wide as the mid lane lol? From top to bot bush tho...GL dodging it.

Side step. There's your counter play. Stop qq'ing about things that aren't broken.

The E change was mainly because it caused problems between higher and lower ping players. I agree it does need a slight nerf because it is near impossible to avoid without some form of mobility. But I would say along the line of reduce damage on the edges type of thing. If it sits, this range expands till it cover the full circle. Only effecting instant E damage without hurting wave clear or setting up kills.

Q change is less important. They're probably trying to make maxing Q first better than E so that E is not so strong while Q has more counterplay. I don't think it'll work as using multiple Q's to do what one E would do sounds pointless.

Lux's cooldown are Q(15-11), W(14-10) and E(10 all ranks). Her cooldowns are not in fact short. But I wouldn't call them long. They are in the middle, leaning slightly to long more than short. Not even her ult I would consider short anymore. Rank 3 is only 50s. While it's slightly shorter than average, it's a shadow of it's former glory in regards of a low CD spell. 80s at rank 1 is a bit more shorter than average though. Overall her CD's only seem short because she builds heavy CDR. She's a long range mage. She needs her spells up more than she needs more damage. It reduces the time frame someone can take advantage of her abilities being on CD.

Her AP ratios are Q(0.7), E(0.6), R(0.75). Again, nothing amazing. Not low. In the middle. Even her ult is in fact on the weaker side unless it is procing her passive.

Overall: Adjust her E and she'll be fine. Everything else you're just making up out of anger.

I'm not certain you REALLY understand how easy it is to kill or zone Lux if you're at her skill level. THEN there are all the junglers with really powerful ganks that, when coordinated, generally kill her, even under tower. Edit: These are not all counters, but champs you can use to counter or come out on top if you're good with them.

You're right guys, I'm wrong. She's perfectly fine the way she is. It's not like her E is entirely undodgable now without movement based skills due to the fact it can be instantly detonated now along with taking up the vast majority of a lane. Her Q, is PERFECT the way it is now, because I mean, who needs it's damaged to be halfed? It's not like it's wide or decently fast traveling.

And you're RIGHT trading back against someone who can just relentlessly poke you down without even getting into your range is just PERFECTLY balanced and it's not like she has a high scaling passive that has ALWAYS let any DECENT lux player out trade most things in the mid lane in the first place.

and of COURSE how dare I "Confuse" counter play and balance. It's not like having counter play can work towards balancing a kit i mean, god what was I fucking thinking? But hey, you're all right and I'm wrong along with everyone else who has complained about lux getting uneeded buffs to make her exceedingly strong for 100% no reason.

and since we love win rates so much, why don't we just ignore the fact she has a 55 to 56% win rate in ALL Elos except Masters? You're right GD. She is PERFECT and is just a matter of moving to the side slightly. Thank you for enlightening me. Thank you for the circle jerk.

You're right, GD is slightly more tolerable. Slightly.

Also, the E delay was like what? 0.2-0.25 seconds or so?

TNHA Baritone2 votes

Riot didnt change her Ratios...at all...If you're dumb enough to stand behind an open minion you deserve to take the full dmg of her Q...as for her E...you can walk out of it if you purchase boots at lvl 1 and predict where she will throw it..It isn't spammable because of Insane mana costs and CDs. Mejas was always on option on her due to her long range.

I agree about her E - I think they should increase the travel time it takes to get to its destination. That way it feels good for Lux players - they still get to detonate instantly and get higher risk/reward for being closer to the target (+ those AAs). It'll also open more room for reactive play for her opponents. Right now there's just no dodging her E against anyone who can hold a mouse. Period.

She's predictable. If you're running towards a minion, shes going to throw it at you. If you're running back to lane, she's gonna throw it at you.

Also, it's not impossible to dodge. You're braindead if you get hit by it every single time.

But naw, lets just QQ about lux when people like zed fizz fiora darius garen and many more exist

Vekkna1 votes

Others have covered how you're factually wrong.

I'll just point out that Lux has ZERO sustain damage. Unlike most other mages Ahri Cassiopeia Lissandra Orianna Syndra Zyra Velkoz Lux only has 2 damaging basic abilities with much longer cooldowns than average. She doesn't have a Q to spam.

So you have your pick between dodging any one of her 3 skillshot abilities to not die, OR you can build magic resist and not die. In either case, she has nothing else to damage you with, and early game it's a long time to be effectively unable to fight back against anything.

That said, I think the changes to E and Q were the wrong changes. Modernizing her mana costs would have been enough. I'd still like to see Q have its root moved to the W projectile and have Q CD reduced by 5 seconds at every rank.

Then why do statistical facts back me up and not you? That's right, because a champion is more than just numbers on paper.

Vekkna1 votes

Please lay out all the numbers about how Lux's base cooldowns are excessively short and has lots of sustained damage. I'll wait.

Also, you say that a champ is more than just numbers on a paper, but your only argument is that statistics allegedly back you up (on things where you're objectively wrong, aside from win rate).

Rysophage1 votes

Lux is one of the only champions in the game that can miss everything and literally do nothing. stop complaining and learn how to walk side to side.

Faded Lich1 votes

You're right, 55% winrate in plat. I'm sure they all are still learning how to click left or right. good point mate. fuck off.

Rysophage1 votes

what's her win rate in the LCS? who the fuck cares about plat players?

Rysophage1 votes

what's her win rate in the LCS? who the fuck cares about plat players? If she's so OP and abusable why is she not seeing professional play AT ALL? some champs have point and click damage and you're complaining about a slow feild. lux is a long range zoning style champion that's why she controls ZONES. if you get in her face she's considerably weaker.

Faded Lich1 votes

If all you care about is LCS and fail to realize balance goes beyond that, then you're part of the fucking problem in this game and limits your methods to about 10 champions. I feel pity for you.
