Mp5 / Hp5 scaling

Elite4Runner··1 votes·1,492 views

I can't think of any champions or items in the game that gives an offensive or defensive scaling based on the champion's Mana or Health Regeneration.

Why is that?

There are obviously items in the game that increase a character's Mp5 and Hp5 totals overall, but nothing scales on it. Am I the only one who finds this odd?

I would imagine that this would be a good focus point for a top laner or a support.

Does anyone have any ideas for this?

They are weak stats that you can't really build for in a meaningful way. Riot probably doesn't want regen stats to be strong because they are afraid of metas where teams passively siege and stall in uninteractive ways.

I don't see how they aren't comparable. I'll grant you that Alistar is on the higher end of the hp5 spectrum, but 23 base hp5 is manageable. +300% hp5 puts him at 92. A champion with comparable hp5 could utilize this stat for something like bonus magic damage on hit = 6-18 (based on level) +60% hp5, or something like that.

They could always give a champion like this the Jhin / Pyke treatment where they don't actually gain bonus health regeneration but maybe they get some unique sustain mechanic and their hp5 goes toward some other bonus.

I just think it is an option that is being overlooked completely, and I think the people at Riot are creative enough to figure something out.

Good point. I had forgot about this item.

item 3028 and item 3222 also increase hp5 based on mp5.

Still seems limited.

That is not what I mean.

http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_champions/Health_regeneration

This is a list of champions by their hp5 at 1st level, 18th level, and growth per level.

Spirit Visage increases this number by 100%

So a level 18 Alistar with Spirit Visage, and no other hp5 items, regenerates 46 health per 5 seconds.

I'm saying, a champion could have an ability that temporarily increases their hp5 based on 25% per 100 AP, .. for example.

Or a damaging ability could be increased by 100 magic damage per +100% bonus hp5

Or their movement speed is increased by their total hp5 (this one would probably make more sense for mp5)

There are tons of options, and I see none of them.

Well, sustain is pretty problematic in league. You may notice this by the amount of complaining done about champs that have it, and the amount of ways there are to counter it. I'm sure that giving champs offense or defense based on a stat that is already pretty strong on it's own would be pretty problematic to balance, and pretty unhealthy for the game overall. I mean, if we were going to have things based on things, why don't we start with having abilities actually being based on their right stats. Why is Pantheon's W magic dmg and scale off AP? He's leaping and bashing them with a shield. A lot of things are done for the sake of balance, and balance takes time to figure out. Adding in crazy new mechanics is why league is so screwed right now to begin with. If you need one example of unorthodox scaling mechanics being difficult to balance, generally overpowered, and unhealthy for the game, look here: Ryze

I don't think you guys are understanding me. Im not suggesting that the champion has an absurd amount of hp5 or mp5. Im just suggesting that they have abilities that scale on the figures. Of course this would encourage players to focus on items that give more than the usual amount of the stat respectively, but depending on how the champion is scaled or balanced all together, they wouldn't be any stronger than any other champion.

I don't think reading is your strong point, stick to your day job, I don't think champ designer is it..

Oh man, good one. Witty responses must really be your "strong point"...
