Do you ever think we'll be able to earn mastery tokens in aram?

I really hope so. I play this game mode often and I'd love to be able to level up some champs through it. It still takes skill to do well in an aram. Granted it may be a different type of skill sometimes, but I think it should count!

Some champions would get it so much easier than other though... even if the player is way more skilled.

Compare a xerath and lets say vi Xerath can sit in the backline all game, saving his mana to use his q in fights to get loads of kills and assists. Doesnt really take much skill aside from hitting an ability.

Now this vi is way better, and always finds a good q onto a carry, then gets blown up instantly. Vi is then forced to play tank and her only use is ulting a carry, maybe getting about 2 kills per death, which definitely isnt enough for an S

But that's not how S ranks in aram work? Like summoners rift, S ranks in aram take into account the average score ON THAT MAP. That Vi would be judged against every other Vi in aram. And since Vi is admittedly very hard to play in aram, maybe those two kills WOULD get her the S!

Too random for that, i think. Mastery tokens should, in theory, show how well you a character. On ARAM, you can get S just because your team rolled better than your opponents.

Yes, Mastery tokens should, in theory, show how well you know a champ, but that's not how the current system works. There's nothing stopping a player from simply spamming games until they luck out and get an S. Someone could even spam Blind Pick SR and hope that they roll a better team than their opponent.

Why is ARAM (and Twisted Treeline) being held to a higher standard than Summoner's Rift with respect to Champ Mastery? It doesn't make any sense to disqualify ARAM for something that's deemed acceptable for SR.

No.

Reason being S ranks in ARAM don't really prove any mastery with a champion.

Anyone can sit back 1000 range and spam poke as Lux or Xerath.

I don´t think you understand how the mastery system works. You only had to read the whole thread, OP actually responded to this argument. It will be like summoner´s rift, the system will compare you to other players. So if those champs have high cs,kills, damage, etc. then well they will actually be the hardest to get a mastery token with, because they get compared to the high performances of other players and you need to achieve similar performance then which means it´s way less forgiving then a champ which actually struggles on the map.

Yeah and I got mastery 6 on most supports by playing them at top when I was originally queued as a jungler. I did this originally to see if it might be some new meta, it was at a time where frost queen would be build on ranged champs who would go top and while I was playing 2-1-2 strategy I just decided for an easy token 6 collecting (I´m collecting mastery 7 for every champ). And you can do this with other champs going off-meta too, just where players should be normally bad with those champs.

So I don´t see a reason from this point of view to not enable them being earnable in aram.
