Seems like every year when the season starts and everyone is in placements, is also the most toxic and frustrating time to play. People rage and tilt off the smallest things and elo elitist attitudes purvey gloom over every game.
Do others wait to do their placements or is it best to just bite the pillow.

I generally wait a couple months.
My opinion is all the kid's who got boosted log in the second ranked's up and go spam their game's to see what they get hoping to god theyll get something high up there. So it's kinda do i wanna play when i know theres gonna be 2 weeks of kids going 0/20 because they were bronze5 boosted to gold or plat and maybe take the chance of putting myself lower than i should be and have to spam even more games to undo that. Or do i just wanna wait and chill then get a accurate placement and go from there. Upto you really though
