Lets try to level on Yasuo's mobility

Elite4Runner··10 votes·950 views

What if Yasuo's E had charges, ... lets just say 4 3 charges for example.

Using a charge on a target will mark that target.

When he uses his Q on that target, he is refunded that charge, but is still unable to use his E on the target for the same amount of time as his current set up.

Any charges that are not reset will be restored after 10/9/8/7/6 seconds (same as the cooldown per level for using E on a single target) after applied.

This idea literally came to me a few minutes ago, so it is not thoroughly thought out, but I do think it could limit his mobility without crippling him.

It simply makes it so that he has to manage his charges mechanically.

The total number of charges and reset cooldown may be tweaked, but it's just an idea.

Does anyone think that something like this would HELP the problem of his mobility?

Edit: Mechanical Explanation

What does this do?

This would decrease Yasuo's ability to chase, which I believe is a huge part of why people fear Yasuo's mobility. Currently he is able to E through a line of minions and catch up to anyone who is trying to run away from him.

I will explain how it does this based on a scenario given in response to a comment below.

Lets say for the sake of argument that he is given only 3 charges.

And lets also say he has maxed his E, and maxed out the cooldown on his Q with the necessary amount of attack speed

In the given scenario he has his Q off cooldown and a full 3 charges of E available.

He uses E and immediately uses Q to reset the charge.

He now has 3 full charges to use. That would take him a minimum of .3 seconds to use.

The minimum cooldown on Q is 1.32 seconds.

That means he has to wait a full second after his 4th E to get a 5th.

Not an incredibly long amount of time, no.

However, then he has another 1.32 seconds before he can get a 6th.

This whole time he HAS to remain near the targets he used his E on previously, and the enemy champion he is really after is probably not going to do that.

What does this NOT do?

This does not hurt Yasuo's ability to fight among minions or in a team fight, IF played in a strategic and mechanically intelligent way. Yes, that means it adds complexity to his tricks and abilities, but I honestly don't think it adds that much.

In this situation, he can E onto two of three minions who are close to one another, then E + Q onto the third so that the Q hits all 3 marked minions.

This will instantly reset his 3 charges.

He can also accomplish this by having his third Q available and tossing it out so that it hits three marked minions and/or champions who are in line.

no... his mobility is not a problem and he needs it to function. this is just an unnecessary nerf and you can't really change his mobility much without gutting it.

Many people will disagree with you about his mobility.

Personally, I think he should stay exactly the way that he is. He is already a fairly well balanced champion, but that is definitely not the way that a large portion of the community feels about him, and it has come to a point where Riot will be changing him.

As for this SEVERELY hurting him, ..

It could, if he isn't played correctly...

The example I gave in response to the comment previously would be a way that this change would hurt his ability to chase.

However, this change would not hurt him as much when trading in lane where opposing minions have crashed into each other, so trading among minions, which is where he should be strong now.

In this situation, he can E onto two of three minions who are close to one another, then E + Q onto the third so that the Q hits all 3 marked minions.

This will instantly reset his 3 charges.

I'm sure there would be other tricks he could do as well, but again, this would maintain his ability to fight among minions, WHEN DONE CORRECTLY.

yeah, it wouldn't affect his trading in lane since he doesn't really need to dash that much. but there is already counterplay to his chasing (not standing in minions)

And yet people still do it, and then cry about it.

You're just making him more complex without actually changing anything.

You say that as if complexity isn't a tool used to gate something.

The last thing you should hit on a skirmisher is it's mobility.

Again, this change only limits his mobility when chasing and when carelessly dashing through everything in sight like he does now.

Using strategy and proper mechanics this will not hurt his mobility while dueling among minions, which is where skirmishers are meant to excel.

Q is not hard skill shot and these are still 6 dashes while you don't use more than 5 in average combat. It would not help at all.

It isn't intended to be hard to land. Difficulty and complexity are two different things.

Currently all he has to do is press E and click on a minion and he can easily hop along a minion wave like a train to chase fleeing enemies, and can still then E onto them afterward.

Using E, then Q, or his E+Q combo will at the very least delay his mobility due to the animation time.

So to say that it would not help AT ALL is honestly just wrong.

It may not help ENOUGH. That I could accept.

If 4 is too many it could be lowered to 3, or even 2.

This will only inhibit the one thing that keeps him from becoming borderline useless: his mobility. Change his E in some way like adding charges and you'll ruin his juking/dodging and kill potential. It's better off not adding a charge mechanic to his E but rather, tweak the numbers so that in some games, people will have incentive to max Q instead of E. Yasuo is built as a champ that wants to kill his target in the lowest time possible then get out cleanly w/o any witnesses much like any other assassin; albeit much riskier but higher reward. Inhibit that concept with your suggestion and his overall playstyle will be harder to play with.
