@Riot Context on the Sated Devourer Nerfs?

  1. Is this an experimental change or a direct hit to the power spike of Sated?

  2. Are you considering making it weaker early or flat lining its power for farm-heavy junglers?

  3. Any news on compensation buffs for junglers very dependent on Devourer? (For example, Aatrox jungle needs Devourer to be relevant, since he brings little in terms of CC and presence compared to junglers like Elise.)

Because the item is basically broken and imbalanced.

And it still has the issues that previous iterations had: It promotes afk jungle farming (nerf didn't address it, but this has still been an issue.)

But it appeals to junglers who need to farm to hit a specific power spike to become strong, and encourages counter-jungling and sneaking objectives like dragon. Also, AFK farming means that if the other jungler is asserting their presence, it can feel like a 4v5, the lack of jungler presence hurting the team in exchange for that Sated power spike and faster clears/split pushing.

While I asked for the context of the nerfs and where the changes were aimed, I agree that Devourer needs nerfs. It's not broken because it's balance-able, but I was wondering where Riot was looking to dampen its power. I am not here to defend Devourer, I am simply here for answers only Riot can answer.

Devourer definitely needs nerfs. It just makes too many junglers OP. It's easier to nerf the item than nerf the champs. If someone like Aatrox gets hit too hard, they will probably buff him in some way.

It's losing TEN (10) magic damage on hit... TEN. Giving Aatrox compensation for that is just ridiculous.

A broken item that promotes non-interactive gameplay followed by one shot mechanics after about the twenty minute mark is not healthy regardless of what iteration you have---feral flare, Devourer, et al.

This item was barely even nudged by the nerf bat when it should have been hit with the delete key.

I suppose you read the issues as individual rather than as a sequence. I apologize for any misunderstanding or miscommunication I may have caused by failing to clarify that.

I asked about future nerf areas, and where it would hit its power. And to level the playing field between god tier devourer junglers and those that fall on the lower end of the spectrum, like Aatrox.

Also, the "one shot mechanics" you mentioned aren't necessarily that, but junglers like Warwick and Kayle can feel oppressive when they hit sated because of their immense power, hence why they are god tier. I agree that needs to be stemmed a bit.

I feel that deleting the item would make a whole class of junglers unviable. That would generally not be the right course of action, unless you have an alternative item that would be a viable replacement to that class of junglers. Frustration with an item never justifies making a whole section of junglers suffer for it, in my experience.
