Ionian Boots of Lucidity: Too Niche to Expand Elsewhere?

How much would it change the way people mix runes, masteries and items if there were more items that provided CD reduction by only 5% instead of 10% or 20%?

Was there ever a time in the past where there were items of this nature but circumstances forced balancing team to cull it down to just the boots?

Frankly, I just don't see why we can't have more options available.

Is it too difficult to budget items in increments of 5% while still giving meaningful stats that assure that not only will they either NOT be "too efficient" or that said items will always be ignored in favour of other time-proven go-to ones?

Are people afraid of the CD masteries/runes falling out of favour or potentially abused?

I just refuse to believe I'm the only one who wonders why there is only ONE item in the entire game that provides something that isn't 10% or 20%.

The more 5% interval items you add, the harder and harder it gets to reach 40% with a diverse build.

You get 5% from masteries, which complements building Lucidity well. And if you want to skill Lucidity, you can get 5% CDR in blues, and go about your day.

But if more items gave 30% CDR, what happens to people who decide they want 2 of the 15% items and Lucidity boots? They dont get to do that without losting slot efficiency.

Well, I wouldn't want items to go more than 20% as a maximum (that WOULD encourage power creep to a ridiculous extent) but a handful of 5% and 15% items would be nice to have.

Just a small example: maybe work it into Ruby Sightstone with an appropriate adjustment to the extra health? Same or similar health as basic Sightstone and a minor cost upgrade. It's hardly as though anyone bothers upgrading to Ruby, given the whole trinket situation we've got now.

I don't like how virtually every champion I play I wind up buying the same items over and over again, REGARDLESS of the circumstances of the game.

This might pave the way for people to finally understand that it's not a criminal offense to do something ever one way now and forever and you're just a baddie that needs to uninstall because you react to a changing environment of play instead of following xyz formula for the umpteenth time, knowing that you're goingg to lose just to avoid being reported maliciously (seriously, try building something to counter an otherwise clear advantage your opponents have but is considered off-meta, tell me how your team responds).

If baby steps are taken and slowly integrated into the game, I feel we can make a positive change for more than merely addressing the lack of functional item choice.

Being pigeon-holed is not fun and if it opens up the possibility of people fiddling around and not being as highly scrutinized in other aspects as an ADDITION...well, I'll be one happy camper! =D

You seemed to completely miss my point.

First, not sure what my brain was doing by saying 30% CDR, i didnt mean that at all, i meant 5% increments.

Second, my entire point is that with more items at 5% increments instead of changing your build during a game, it becomes decided at champ select when you pick runes and masteries. Because if you take different masteries you are locked from taking certain items because you would be wasting the CDR they would give you.

Say you give Sightstone a 5% CDR path (which will NEVER happen. Riot doesnt want to give Sightstone strong alt build paths, and for good reason) but you dont have the 5% CDR mastery (very possible). You get 10% from spellthief, and now youre at 15, and pretty much every other item youd build would give you 10 or 20%, even if you want the items, you are hurting yourself by buying them too.
