When Riot claims to "look into something" like TP, what's there to assume other than deletion?

I just played with a Rioter named Koyuncu who claims he is a playtester. I constantly asked him about why they're removing Teleport and he answers the same thing that they're just "experimenting" with complete ambiguity. Why should I assume it's anything other than it is being removed though?

You can assume whatever you want; I'm not sure what the incentive for Riot is to care about your speculations, though.

The reason that they are ambiguous is because they don't know what they are going to decide. It could be anything from removal from the game to putting it onto an item.

Telling players anything else just gets them riled up about something that might not even happen; there's a very good reason not to share more info than that. These decisions take time and often go through many, many iterations of playtesting. They can't incorporate our feedback meaningfully when they don't even know what their plan is.

Because if Riot has already decided that they were going to outright remove it, there would be no ambiguity.

Because removing tp would probably push a lot of top laners out of viability. It would turn top lane into an even bigger island than it already. Riot wants top laners to be able to interact with other lanes and removing TP would significantly reduce top lanes ability to do just that.

Every other post is about how top lane is a shit show. Imagine if these same guys couldn't tp back to lane... the boards would probably implode with the number of complaints.

In all seriousness, they'll probably do something along the lines of making tp more defensive like they did the first time by making the CD longer if you tp offensively and reward you for a defensive tp

They could balance other summoner spells to have the same impact for a solo lane.

Just do a thought experiment:

If ignite did 470-810 based on level, would you take it over teleport? If ignite did 370-710 based on level, would you take it over teleport? What about 270-610? 170-510? 160-500? 150-490? Etc.

it is pretty clear that if ignite does 470-810, you would take it over teleport 100% of the time. If ignite does 70-210, you would almost never take it over teleport. Between those numbers is a range of damage where you would feel the two spells are near equal power and actually have to make a decision between the two.
