You should be able to lane fine (just cs). You just can't kill them any more.

i.e. they took all the fun out of it.

They took his anti-assassin/burst, now his voidlings are shit and his ER are too nerfed to really lane with them.

His passive, his ult, his silence...He can do mid just fine, people just like him in the jungle because he can actually jungle now with his voidlings. Just because he works somewhere doesn't mean he has to go there. Ekko can still go mid and jungle just fine, he just is best top. Doesn't mean he's no longer a mid laner.

LOL no, Zed can keep it in cooldown all he wants.

Manaless low cooldown harass is basically the best counter to Malzahar's passive.

And Now Malz doesnt have burst or reliable damage at all.
