Who needs DEATH RECAP. Just look at their build! I see a lot of stuff about this topic but I never look at it anyway. I look at the fed guy's build and build accordingly. Does it matter that in a PARTICULAR skirmish someone blew you up in a team fight? It would seem to me that the person doing the most damage over all, and is the carry threat is the GUY to focus. I am truly interested to know why the death recap is such a big deal. It's like lore to me. This game isn't driven by an encompassing story, but that is another topic.

A lot of the information isn't in the items though. For example, a few games ago, I was playing Diana jungle and the enemy Annie and I got super fed. However, despite her having Deathcap/Luden's/Voidstaff online, I didn't build a lot of MR, because she wasn't consistently going for me; she was gunning for Jinx. Their Miss Fortune, on the other hand, was always trying to prioritize me, so I built some armor items.

How could recap better equip you than looking at MF's build?

Because it would show you who's really your bane instead of wasting early build pathing on someone who isn't even targeting you the entire game.

When building defensively, it more or less comes down to 'armor or magic resist'; say I'm deciding between Abyssal Scepter and Zhonyas Hourglass. Looking at their itemizations, I see that Annie is hella fed, and MF isn't, which would suggest that an Abyssal is in order.

However, when I look at a death recap, I see that even though I took 510 damage from a stray Incinerate, I took 1200 from MF's autoattacks. Even though MF isn't as far along in her build as Annie is, because of their target selection, she represents a greater threat to me, and so I should get a Zhonyas over an Abyssal.

I can see where you are going with it. It helps with knowing output when you dont really no a lot about the game

This, pretty much. Just because a champion is geared heavily toward AD doesn't mean you aren't taking more magical damage than physical. Ideally, the Death Recap would help confirm which type of damage is hitting you the hardest.
