PROMOTION TROLLS -- Teammate sees im 2-2 in promo for Gold, AFKs intentionally unless i buy him skin

I am at my goddamn limit with this promotion bullshit. All it does is frustrate players and empower trolls.

I wish I was making this up, but alas I am not. I was 2-2 in gold promos and in the final game. I was pumped up.

Then one of my teammates LoLkings me, sees that it is my deciding game, and says he is going afk unless i buy him a gift skin from the store.

**He ends up AFK for 15 minutes then feeds hardcore for the last 5, then starts spamming surrender. Our team was actually winning until he came back to feed, despite being 4v5. **

AT THE VERY LEAST, PREVENT SITES LIKE LOLKING FROM TELLING PEOPLE THAT YOU ARE IN A PROMOTION SERIES. BLOCK ALL INFORMATION EXCEPT DIVISION AND LEAGUE

So tell him you'll buy him a skin, win the game, then report his dumb ass with info about it in the description and also submit a Support Ticket reporting him as well. He'll get what he deserves, trying to extort players out of RP.

If you ask me, all this stuff should be private info. I don't even think your record or your stats should be visible. It just leads to bad behavior in the community.

Promos are bad design in a game that's easy to troll. AFKs in ranked should be punished far more than they are too.

I like the leagues, but the promos need to go. Nothing more frustrating than going on a streak, getting to the next tier only to be tossed back from afks or trolls.

Like everything else, I just stopped playing ranked. If norms are a 20, no big deal. The system has taught me to play only hard enough not to be punished and to move onto the next game.

You could have promised to buy him a skin, then when you guys win, report his ass.

-Add him to your friends list to make him think you're actually doing it. Then tell him "I have to go somewhere really quick, wait a few minutes" -come back a few hours later and tell him you ran out of RP and tell him to wait till tomorrow until you get more -then finally crush his hopes and give him the biggest "fuck you" you can possible give in league chat

Whenever I encounter little shits like the one you mentioned I play along. I soothe their little ego, they're probably some lonely fat kid, or a lonely neckbeard.

Are we still acting like Riot knows what they are doing and not just throwing out ideas until they work?

If the actual majority (and not just the vocal) of the playerbase doesn't cry out against Promotion series, nothing will happen because Riot won't care.

There's lots of players that get good teams on placement matches, win 4/5 games and get silver, tho they're worse than bronze. In games, when i call my lane (blind pick) or pick the lane i want because i'm first/2nd pick (rankeds and draft), they just check lolking, say i'm a bronze noob, and that i have to go support because they'ill lock mid/top anyway . those guys usually feed anyway, and when i end up with a better score, they tell me they arent playing serious or that they have lags, etc.

There's no reason for sites like this or the WoW armory or similar sites. Why would you need to know their rank? They're either in your rank or not... is there something I'm missing besides finding material to flame people with?

At the least, there should be opt-in or opt-out disclosure for these sites.

Riot trying to hide what is actually going on behind the scenes is why ranked sucks so bad now. We can't even see our MMR so we get bogus LP gains and losses to make up for it with no contextual information behind it. Your suggestion just hides even more of it, and is a step in the wrong direction.

The first step Riot should do is remove promotionals all together -- then people seeing your stats and games would not matter at all because all games are counted equal, as it should be.

I can't help but feel the upvotes you've received are just people fed up and raging at the promotional system, rather than actually thinking out your proposal.

100% agree with this. While I've never had a "buy me a skin" ransom, I've had two trolls start the game with "I see you're one loss from failed promos, Drak. gg" as they start to feed and spam surrenders.

I honestly don't think these sites should show anything but maybe division. Why do I get to know my opponents' rune and mastery builds? If there is no way to view that in the game, then it seems it should be wrong for a site to offer that information out of game.

If Riot wants this to be freely known information, add buttons on the scoreboard screen to view builds.

So... Why didn't you say that you would give him a skin? You can't give it until after the game. If you say you'll give a skin to all team if you win, they'll try their best. After the game, you simply exit the room and never see them again. Profit?

All you had to do is tell him: "Oh, this must be a coincidence. I actually do a lot of giveaways. Just add me post-game and I'll send you any skin you want, except for an ultimate skin. :)"

Win the game. Report and block the guy. ???. Profit.

I'd rather see them find a way to just get rid of these scum bag losers that try and do this stuff than punish 3rd party websites. But if they can't stop them then I'd rather they not show promos on 3rd party websites. LP rank division is fine imo.

The concept of promos is getting taken down next season. Riot has already confirmed it. I dont tell people that Im in promos. If they hint at it that they know Im in my promos I immediately mute them
