I mean yeah, sometimes it can be useful, but most times it's just a buggy feature that gives inaccurate information. Yes Riot, I totally took 300 damage from the Ghost summoner spell, that seems like accurate information.
Seriously though, if Riot removed this, I don't think anyone would even really care because it's just in the way at this point. You go to click something in the shop or wherever, it just pops this up, something silly and irrelevant.

Jokes aside,It should just tell what abilities have been used on you,without saying all the numbers and %,But only if they don't figure out how to fix all the problems it has. It's useful when you see Kayn's ult has dealt her damage,and so you know he has it on CD for a bit,the same goes for ignite,but numbers (especially when not 100% correct) don't really help you help others,it "helps" only when you're deciding what to build to survive,and usually you already know from what kind of damage you died.
