Why is Spirits Visage a recommended item for Sion this patch?

It used to be item 3102, but now I'm seeing item 3065 on his recommended items. Why? I know the recommended items aren't always the best for the champion, but why did they get switched (or am I imagining things)? Sion doesn't really have enough healing to benefit from item 3065 like Zac or Alistar. Beyond his health regen obviously, but I don't see the point.

Is it because of the CDR? item 3025 or item 3110 give more CDR. Sure they don't give health, but this is SION. His health stacking is what allows him to get armor focused defense items without as much sacrifice as others.

So why was this done? Is item 3065 just OP on Sion and I never noticed? It doesn't feel like it.

Because it has the same HP and MR along with better healing and CDR for a lower cost than Banshee's Veil. As a general rule, it's better than Banshee's Veil unless you have something that you really, really need the spellshield for. Sion doesn't usually need the spellshield, so Banshee's Veil is usually worse.

The spellshield really is a very mediocre mechanic. Even just the CDR than Spirit Visage has is worth more than that.

Though it makes getting 40% CDR harder unless you get the CDR boots.

Not really. I'm not going to get another CDR item just because I buy a Banshee's Veil. I'm not stacking 20% CDR items on him anyway, and even if it was the rare occasion where the game called for that, it's still worth getting Spirit Visage over Banshee's because even the health regen and the short period of time where I'm not wasting CDR is worth more to me than that spellshield.

If I have any adjustments that are really that important, I can use runes. That's more effective than buying an inferior item.

I guess that makes sense. I normally just use runes for hybrid pen and some early AD to help with last hitting and Q scalings. Really I don't need 40% CDR (20 is fine) but I guess going normally 30% will be much better for me.

I feel like it's mainly because of HP5. Aren't a lot of other health regen items recommended on Sion aswell? summoner 31

item 3748 and item 3102 are all I can think of that offer health regen on his recommended items list this patch (can't remember the whole list).

Edit: And item 3083 of course.

item 3083 item 3512 item 3074 Weren't these part of his recommended aswell? Ravenous might've been removed since TT tho summoner 31

Possibly. I still find it weird since item 3065 or item 3102 is usually the first item rushed for me when I need to get MR.

I personally love rushing item 3025 (Allthough I need to get Sunfire first now because it's balanced...) Then get aitem 3065 so I would have 40% CDR with the 10% CDR I have in my runes. summoner 31

sions passive HP gains are heals. SV doesn't increase the max health gains but it does increase the current health gains.

his W Passive: Sion permanently gains 2 bonus health whenever he kills an enemy, increased to 10 bonus health against large enemies and enemy champion takedowns.

so your max HP goes up by 2 while your current HP goes up by 3.

Is that true? All I know about the visage is that is increases healing by 20%; is permanent health gain considered healing?

You gain the HP immediately, both current and max HP. I'm not actually sure that SV increases it. I'd have to test that in a custom game with a cannon minion to see how much your HP goes up... Of course this is dwarfed by base HP regen so it would be hard to see even if it works.

I'll see if I can test this some time.

Just tested it in a custom game and watched the replay in slo mo, sadly SV does not improve his w passive. Its like "true" healing so it seems it cant be amplified.

Oh ok. Well regardless, I'll build SV over Banshee's.

Because even with zero healing, Spirit Visage is better than Veil
