Riot released info on average game times
...and it's fucking 30 minutes.
Where does the whining come from? I don't get it.

here's the problem with the boards: majority of people who use the boards don't play ranked, and play non stop norms and "fun" game modes.
I played a couple games of norms during the beginning of the release of new runes, and i have to say that it's full of washed up, horrible gold 5 players.
Not only that, it's FULL of premades, and it reminded of why i hated dynamic queue. Entire games were decided by the better premade.
So why should we ask these types of people, who are playing in a HORRIBLE environment for improving, for advice?
VERY well put.
A person exposed to incredibly high radiation does not die instantly but their fate is sealed nonetheless. Just as many games are decided early on but the final gasp of life from the losing team doesn't happen for a while.

this needs to be pinned...

I concur.
The vast majority of players are below and in Gold, and being there (as I'm also a part of) also means you're quite likely to not being able to close matches efficiently. Hence games might be clocked at 30 min on average because of them inflating the stats, and it doesn't just mean everyone was having a quality time with it at all. Game time average alone is not valid enough to disprove the complaints about the state of this game's snowballing atm, we would need a couple more parameters to do a proper analysis.
So you're blaming the game for you getting bodied? If average game times are 30 minutes, which is entirely fine, then it's your job to make what you can of those 30 minutes. Whether the game bleeds or bounces back is up to you (and everyone else playing, but yeah).
I think the issue is that there needs to be a decrease in stat gains overall. If you and another person enter a fight with pocket knives and then the other man is handed a shotgun while you and them were still sizing each other up, there's not much you can do even if you are cleverer than them. Doing well early gives you too many stats that allow you to ignore tactical advantages from the enemy team.
What can a team that's behind 8 kills and 4 towers do to stop a team that just got Baron buff? They lack the stats to fight them and they have no tactical advantage under their turrets due to the minion buff. This is just an example but surely you understand my point?
Then you're playing the wrong game. This game has ALWAYS been a snowbally game, probably more in previous seasons than now. Riot's gone through a good deal to make sure one person can't pick up the biggest gun in the game (through solo killing over and over) and then run around ass-blasting everything in the game. They reduced the degree of pain one snowballed player can cause, but LoL is naturally a snowbally game. You either bounce back or get rolled over. Not every game's a stomp, and not every game is decided by some tense team fight at 45 minutes, but with the game pace we have now, we can have either, unlike before in early season 6 where it was too fast or season 5 when it was too slow. That's just me being real and telling you the truth.
No, that's your opinion. In my past experience (I've been playing since Season 4) the game was not this snowbally two seasons ago. They reduced the capability of one person to carry the game but at the same time made it so that an ahead team overall is doing better.
They reduced the ability of one person to steal a game away.
They also added global gold to shut downs.
They also took raw gold value out of Dragon.
They also made it so the winning side's minions shove into safer territory faster.
They've made MANY changes to help out the losing side over the years. The main thing you're noticing is that LoL team fights are explosive as hell, and aren't all that drawn out. Doesn't mean the neutral game is more snowbally than before...unless you let that happen.
My answer above.
Same as above.
This on the other hand I'd say made snowballing worse. Where as before you would just get gold from Dragon and if the losing team held out long enough they would be able to bridge that gap, now the team that succeeds early gets a unique buff that the losing team does not have access to and it will scale as the game goes on making it so keeping that lead is easier.
This too is not as good as it seemed to be. Yes, the winning team can't just farm minions near their side while denying the losing team, but ask yourself, what do they do if aren't farming? They are taking objectives. The winning team groups mid and starts pushing and suddenly you can't farm those minions in the side lanes because you need to defend your structures, this leads to the winning team gaining pressure in all three lanes and forcing the losing team to disperse to deal with it, thus leaving the winning team to push as one or take Baron and then push.
All these things, in my opinion, just made snowballing worse than before, not better.
Yes, because bronze still doesn't know how to close out games. So their average is higher, propping up the numbers. Not judging, but thats why one is bronze, right?
It's the context that matters.
All the towers have been obliterated and one team has complete control over the map and has been fed to high heaven by that point. Games might drag on to 30 but most are decided by about the 10~15 minute mark, sometimes by 5.
It's not how long games are; it's how long players can drag them out coupled with how short they would be otherwise.
You have no evidence that the majority of games are decided by 15 minutes. If yours are...gee whiz...
Trust me, it's evident.
Give evidence, not "tell me it's evident".
Uhh...
If it's evident, there should be evidence.
Where is it?
Yeah I don't really understand it. I don't get one sided 20 minute stomp games this board loves to complain about non stop. Maybe I'm just lucky.

can we talk about your 11 game loss streak? What the fuck happened in that time span lol. (no flame, just curious)
arams maybe? I was on a 30 game loss streak in aram last month because, aram.

can i ask you about your 11 game loss streak? How did you even cope with that. Happened to me a while ago and i felt like SHIT.
I don't really remember, this account was permabanned over a year ago. Usually its just reque and hope for a better team.
You're somewhat lucky.
I don't get it either, but just for fun let's play devil's advocate.
30 minute games might mean that games are often decided by 20. I could see that being frustrating to a lot of people. When I started, it was actually pretty common for games to run 45-60. Game time has come way down, and not everyone sees that as a good thing, I think.
I dont think its 20, most games were like 90% over at minute 10 or earlier (havent played much in preseason yet).
I mean https://i.gyazo.com/7e6b6224e15f4c7c30f03e1b64b6edec.png was 100% won in champ select in season 7 but.. thats probably a different story xd
45 - 60 minutes is horrendously LONG. Old client had SR's standard times as 20 to 40 minutes.
30 minutes is right smack dab in the expected times for a SR game.
I think that's always where they were aiming, but it may not be where most people want it. I would be okay with standard time being 40 minutes.
I wouldn't go so far as to whine about the current time, but I think there's a decent argument to be made for enjoying longer games.
Then you'd have to buff early game champions to compensate. All this jumping through hoops to add an extra 10 minutes to the average SR game and completely dismantle and destroy pro play is something that's never going to happen, anyway.
"average play time" that means that there are plenty of games that go longer just like there are plenty of games that are much shorter than that. You can be having a bad streak of games ending insanely early. This also doesn't tell us when games actually feel that they are just done and over with you having no actual shot of winning and just see the enemy essentially toying with you while you try desperately to put out fires everywhere while the enemy is just having a pleasant stroll around you.
Have you never been in a game that after the 8~15 min mark no matter what you do everything just feels hopeless no matter what you attempt to do?

Have you ever been in a game where after 8 to 15 minutes it felt like you couldn't throw the game no matter what you did? Shit goes both ways, as well as any way possible, all the time. It's not a balancing issue when it works for you, so it's not a balancing issue when it works against you. Don't get stomped, and hopefully you won't have 4 bricks for teammates too often while we're at it, and you'll be fine enough.

yeah, that is why every single game feels terrible to play against. "Don't get stomped" good advice. Here is another one "if you don't lose, you win!" or here is another one "the sky is blue!"
Are you telling me you can't win a game of League? Is it that hard? I know loss streaks and unlucky shit happens, but is it BEYOND that realm for you?
No?
Then chin up. You'll be fine. Stop being so negative and think about the full parts of the glass, not the empty parts.
Game ENDS at 30 minutes, game is decided in like 15 minutes. The only thing that is stopping people from ending at 15 is that inner turrets are still somewhat easy to defend so you sit around for the other 15 minutes while the winning team gets further ahead and you can't even go into your own jungle because someone with hyper mobility and duskblade is sitting in a bush ready to 1 shot you in .0023 seconds.
Game's decided at 15 if you(r team) let it be decided at 15.
Considering 43% of the population is in silver and gold and low to mid plat isn't much better, it's pretty easy to have 1-2 people in every game either on your team or the enemy team that feeds your assassin or their assassin and the game is over at 15
Pretty much this.
Given the current state of the game it usually only takes one mistake in lane to end the laning phase and one bad teamfight even in the "mid game" portion ends it.
So it's the argument:
Statistic = Fact
When countless times in the past It's been proven that:
Statistic = Not always fact
Though, LoL used to have games go on for like 45 - 70 minutes and so an average game of 30 minutes in insane, considering long games are only 40 minutes but short games are usually 15-20 minutes.

Statistics are always facts.
Statistics =/= causation
Game times ARE about 30 minutes, as said by Riot themselves. That doesn't tell the story behind the experience in those thirty minutes, but the fact is that it's 30 minutes doesn't change. Now I know why math and logic doesn't work on these boards...you guys literally operate on Naruto "Believe It" quotes and gut feelings instead.

Statistics vs Facts:
Black people are generally more violent on a statistical level in the United States, therefore, black people are generally more violent than the general white person. Just look at the crime rates! /s
Statistics aren't always facts, instead of assuming something stupid like that maybe take a look at the bigger picture.

You still don't know what the hell you're saying and I'm not the person to educate you. Have fun not knowing how to use statistics properly.
