Loss of LP from AFK's/Trolls. (Ranked)

Hey guys, I've already made a post like this a while ago, it's not the same but kinda in the same area. You can find it if you really wanted to.

I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU READ MOST OR ALL OF IT.

So the reason that I'm bringing this back to light is because of every time I play League just for one day, I still get people that want to troll or intent feed. I've started playing again after taking a break from this stuff** (trolls/intent feeders/AFK's). I've played this game for a while, since like the very end of Season 2 championship, and that I'm still trash as usual. Even though Riot doesn't want to do something about these people that do this continuously is aggravating and frustrating. And yes I know people will say, "BUT THEY BAN THEM!", barely when you get that you are banned or perm banned (which I've never gotten) they say some shit like you're like 1% blah blah, I'm pretty sure there a lot more people that deserve a ban than a small amount of these trolls**. And for your information,** I'm not basing my Rank off of these problems**, except that these are stupid problems. And I know people will say TROLLS ARE EVERYWHERE AND YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT, no for example games like Overwatch, Dota, and CS:GO have ways to prevent these things that Riot won't do and neglect their player base cause of how soft they are. Overwatch is strict with trolls and there's barely any in that game for a reason, Dota puts people in their place when being trolls/intent feeders and basically take them away from the good player base, and for CS:GO if you troll you easily get banned if you shoot your team too much/AFKing/Hacking/etc and you get banned a lot faster than Riot does. People will also say "that's what** low priority** is for DUMBASS", it doesn't do shit and the "leaver buster"** is a out right joke**, they even make you write your name that you won't AFK anymore! Oh wow that'll stop them Riot. And I realize that I'm being condescending, sarcastic, and disrespectful but no one in Riot probably cares cause nothing happens or works. Most players don't even like playing when they get a troll/AFKer on their team (AFK meaing they leave in middle of game not before game cause I know remake exist) because they know as much as the next guy that they can lose LP, possibly de-rank, and spam the stupid chat with "report pls". If I had a dollar for every time someone has said that including me I could pay for Riot to make a better system and possibly even make my own game with that money. And by reading this you can already tell that I'm not perfect either, I never used to be like this when playing but after the frustrating Trolls and intent feeders every now and then people will snap cause they feel like Riot doesn't do shit. Ranked shouldn't be a factor of if I don't get a troll I'll win. And people will say, "OH BUT YOU CAN WIN A 4v5", hardly especially if that person is playing a key role like something like Mid then it just demoralizes the team and makes it way harder than it needs to be, and like whens the last time you won a 4v5. You get no point compensation if someone goes AFK on purpose/Feed intentionally/Troll.** You simply get punished because you got a troll via losing LP/Rank**, and someone else will say "Just talk to the person",** I shouldn't waste my time playing Dr.Phil and trying to have the person stop being an asshole to the team and waste more time typing to them instead of actually playing the game to help POSSIBLY win.** Just RIOT please for the love of god do something and stop trying to carter to the whole population of good and bad people just so you can grow more, you literally lose a shit ton of players to this and even make those players turn into those players cause of this. Riot just be strict with people, compensate LP, or something. ANOTHER thing, where the hell is Tribunal, remember that you probably forgot about that. I used to love doing you job for you Riot for free banning and helping the people get rid of the Trolls/Intent Feeders, it gave the people POWER! But no that thing hasn't been open since like Season 3 or around that time. Even one of your employees went to my friends High School (Fullerton), even they asked wheres Tribunal and he told me that your employee said that's coming back soon....that was 2 years ago.

Things that can ACTUALLY fix this: (Just Raw Ideas)

  • Compensation of LP
  • Bringing back Tribunal
  • Immediately punishing Trolls
  • Do something like Dota does
  • Have some kind of in game voting system (not /ff or /remake or stuff like that, you know what I'm kinda getting at)
  • Some kind of Overwatch thing like CS:GO has (it's not just for hackers for CS:GO)
  • Return points for people so instead of losing 15-22 LP every loss from Trolls maybe make it so the victims only lose around 5-10 LP

I don't know Riot this isn't our job as a community to do this for you. Just please give us something to work with instead of stuff like Leaver Buster and Chat Restriction, cause that barely does anything.

Really the only viable solution here is if there's a late afk (long enough to be marked red in the post game screen) then that player takes the full LP loss for the team. If that player is in dynamic queue, his team that stayed connected takes normal LP loss as the cost of queuing with an afker and they can decide from there if they want to risk further games with the player.

Intentionally feeding is hard for a program to measure. You can go 1/10/X and be legitimately trying. The enemy team can just outplay you that hard sometimes and it happens to everyone.

Also, tribunal is terrible and should never have been a thing. Croudsourcing free moderation with no vetting of their moral compass is the worst idea. 90% of the idiots that play this game think you should be permabanned for saying bg or ggez or a little bit of competitive banter that is present in every sport. Players don't know the difference between trash talk and abusive harassment.

I really suggest adding page breaks in your wall of text. Was really difficult trying to read the whole thing.

As for your points:

1: Tribunal was a faulty system. People abused it for the free IP and would auto punish players who didn't deserve it. It was also painfully slow and overall bad. It was a great idea to get the community involved, but it was a terrible execution, which is why Riot removed it. If it comes back, it wont be until the New League Client Update. Bringing back the Tribunal now will solve nothing, and honestly I'm perfectly okay with the new system. Instant Feedback and LeaveBuster do their jobs well, and Riot Support has also done a great job.

2: You can't immediately punish trolls, because they're not always easy to detect. A person playing off-meta or having a bad day does not make them a "troll". That word is thrown around so carelessly towards anything that a player "doesn't like" or "disagrees with". Even then, that "trolling" player would have to show repeated instances of "trolling" in multiple games to get punished. This is to prevent punishment for players who are having bad days or simply playing off-meta. This applies to "compensation LP" from "trolls". You cannot force Riot to give you LP points because someone played AD Soraka or Nasus Support. You cannot prove every game you lose is because of a "troll" because that word has no clear definition.

This doesn't mean however that Riot doesn't punish those who do grief and disrupt games. They do, trust me. But they take precautions to make sure the right people get punished for actually disrupting games.

3: OW doesn't really punish trolls. Not sure how you think they do. If they did then even in quick matches you wouldn't be able to go 6 Torbs or 6 Meis. And even then, for Competitive they only implemented the 1 champ per team because people were abusing the 3 tank meta by playing 3 winstons and 2 lucios which caused games to be incredibly boring and stagnate, especially in tournaments. Not because of trolling.

4: We don't need another voting system. The ones we have our fine, and if anything I'm thankful Remake exists now.

All in all I don't think your complaints hold any substance. This post sounds more like you venting your frustrations (which is fine) rather than giving constructive feedback towards Riot's system. But don't assume they aren't doing anything, or that their systems are flawed just because you're losing. This isn't true. They're doing a fantastic job punishing Toxic players and griefers, and they can even handle bizarre grief cases that many of us would never think is bannable. At least from my personal experience. They've vastly improved since the Tribunal, and have little to no error in their punishments/reviews.

I hope that helps. I'm not against anyone venting their frustrations, but do keep in mind there is a big difference with being frustrated ("Oh man this sucks!") and pointing blame where there is none ("Oh man this sucks! How dare Riot not do anything!").
