How do I win with Corki mid?

I know he's hyped up but I can't seem to win with him. He has OK waveclear but gets murdered by Malzahar in terms of both lane and waveclear. Many mids actually waveclear way bettter. He also has no CC so he depends entirely on his team to do meaningful damage. His poke is very cheap but does almost no damage compared to actual poke mids like Ziggs, Xerath, Lux etc.

I can bully some mids a little bit but they usually just shove me faster if I try and I can't clear the wave and harass well at the same time. His Q costs a lot of mana. I seriously don't see it. I'm 4-13 with him mid. Even when I get ahead, unless my team has a beefy frontline with CC, the other mid tends to be far more useful. Lux can land a binding on 2 people and nearly kill them both with her combo (not to mention she has a team shield, CC, stronger poke and better waveclear later on). I have some lame poke and decent DPS but that's all. How the hell is he even supposed to be good. Even in terms of the damage charts, Anivia, Malzahar, TF, etc. all seem to have a lot more damage by the end of the game due to their large AoE abilities. The only times I found Corki actually good were vs champs that lack all that like Fizz. However, give them a standard mid like Orianna and I just feel useless past 30 minutes in teamfights. One Malzahar E by itself takes my ADC to something like 25%. Despite being an ADC, he seems outclassed even in damage unless it's a long fight.

I've read guides and all but I can't seem to do great with him. It's not a matter of CS or even kills - I just can't carry and win. My CS and kills will tend to be pretty much like my opponent's.

I think your problem is you're not using your autos much in between spells. None of his abilities really do an "insane" amount of damage but his autos, similar to orianna, pack a huge punch. Once you get your trinity your q and r are used for some okay poke and aoe but mainly so you can prock your trinity very quickly and burst people down fast. His package is also just has ridiculous damage and utility.

Corki's like any other ADC for team fighting, you have to position properly. The same applies out of mid lane. Many mid lane mages are burst centric focusing on bursting out the enemy with one rotation of spells. Corki isn't about. He is more sustained/poke damage oriented. My guess would be to make sure you are choosing your fights properly and making sure that you can't be reached by their damage before you have heavily outpoked the enemy.

High pressure damage dealer with short CD's near constant AOE damage.

High roaming pressure and playmaking ability every 5 minutes and complete safety while holding the package.

Corki is just SUPER safe while being insanely strong at team fighting and impossible to shove off a wave. He also gets to have magic damage AA's that lifesteal.

Ok that's not my experience. I've been outroamed even by the likes of Lux FREQUENTLY. Unless I have package, I can't catch anyone. She can still snare and ult. from far away. Also, while I should have strong playmaking ability every 5 minutes (which isn't even that often compared to roaming mids like Ahri or Talon), the huge siren tells everyone I have it. I usually go towards top or bot and then find that they soon back off before I even get close. I used to do well on Corki pre-nerf and before people knew about the Package. Now, the only time I get kills with the Package are when the enemy team is pushing down a turret.

I guess it's true he has lifesteal but it hasn't seemed relevant in my games. I usually go something like TF ER IE Sorcs or TF SS IE Sorcs (not in order). By the time, I'd actually get LS, the game is basically over. I should mention that I take Corrupting Potion at the start instead of Dblade. I'm not sure if it's better or not. I'm just copying the LCS start I see on every Corki.

As for teamfighting, I suppose he could be strong if the fights last long enough but usually the CC and burst from the other mid turns the tide of the fight before I have a chance to truly make the sustained damage shine. I'm seriously pretty annoyed that I can't seem to win with this champ yet people consider him a good pick.

I can't seem to view any of your match history anywhere.

So... I have no real things to draw upon aside from what you've said.

Lux has no natural mobility, Corki has the package which gives great non-combat MS and a HUGE gap closer for ganking. On top of that, he clears a wave easier and quicker than a Lux (unless she ults -- and that's a minute CD early game) meaning he can start roaming quicker, he also can Valk over walls for better angles or just to gap close.

Corki is strong because you can't really dodge all of his damage, and if you don't he does insane burst with just a tri-force. Top that off with strong objective damage -- far more than most Non-Azir/Cassio/Karthus mages -- he excels at pretty much everything EXCEPT CC.

The general plan with Corki fight your opponent with Gatling gun when they go to clear the wave, if you need to use Valk to dodge their abilities, otherwise just sidestep them, keep attacking until Gatling gun is gone then back off and clear the wave. Early game, pre-6 most mages can't compete at all with this kind of pressure and remain in lane.

During mid-game when you might actually get killed 100-0, clear the wave instantly with Q -> R then shimmy off towards either top or bot, whichever looks more gankable, if you encounter pink wards kill them instead and return and repeat until you find a good gank.

If you have the package, you have a full minute of a more dangerous and easier to pull off gank doing exactly the same thing --- and if they try to kill you instead, you get a free escape button from any fight.

Good tips, will try.

Is Corrupting Potion really worth it compared to Dblade? I seem to do far better with Dblade.

I'm now 7-17 on Corki lol. It's getting better but it still feels like CC just wins games more than the damage I have.

Anyway, I have a question about backing with 1300g. I had Boots and DBlade with 1300 to spend. Since it's hard to get a BF sword straight, is it worth doing it and delaying TF?
