PSA : Magic Damage Champions Are Getting Indirectly Buffed With Pre-Season

If you look at the stats of the champions getting stuff, you'll notice one specific stat missing (other than Ability Power because we get that through Runes Reforged). Magic Resist. 0 champions are getting MR added to their base stats, meaning every single AP damage dealer will be dealing more damage at every stage of the game against champions that would put MR in their Runes.

This in turn means that hybrid champions like Kog'Maw and Kayle are getting the most out of the stat changes. Kayle got attack speed while her opponents lost Magic Resist. Kog Maw got AD while everyone lost MR. Corki getting the most benefits from the stat changes through AD, armor, base HP, health growth with damage on his Q and again everyone losing Magic Resist.

So something to keep in mind is how good Magic Damage and Hybrid champions are going to be at the start.

I'm losing over 20 Magic Pen from my Runes. Dunno what you're talking about. Also AD champions have so much more variety in the new Runes than AP.

mages are even,the lost MR is balanced by the 12 magic penetration lost from old runes/maestries,and they got some defensive stats while AD got both defensive and offensive buff,though lethality champ now get their armor penetration from lvl 1 (they removed both lethalithy and armor from runes,but lethality needs the lvl 18 for being effective so now they get this "powerspike" from lvl 1),especially as AP you have not so much options for building armor ( item 3157 and? now you can't even build tabi as they made AP reliant from item 3020 ) so it's a big nerf

Damage is going up period. The defensive runes are shabby as can be.

**I have a strong feeling early AP damage is going to be pretty nuts for awhile. Without the Health/MR that previous rune setups offered, and some of the new harass mechanics arcane comet offers... it's going to be extremely difficult to itemize against early-game harass champions. **

I think Riot should go over the starting items. Maybe consider adding a 4th Dorans item or something to that effect, so that you have some options about where your starting stats are. As it stands now, early game is where your going to see a TON of changes. My big takeaway?

I hope we start seeing some poke mages in the meta a bit more now. They did get played before, but I've always felt they were pretty uncommon in this meta, especially Xerath. Xerath Velkoz Ziggs
