It is REALLY hard to play Ahri/Lux/Anivia/Velkoz/ETC. against Kalista...

Insanity 101··48 votes·9,272 views

Its bad enough playing champs like these against the likes of Yasuo Fizz Zed but Kalista is just hell to play against. Especially as Ahri since she NEEDS to land charm in order to assassinate someone unless horrendously fed.

Kalista literally just dodges everything they have with absolute ease and then proceeds to kill them in two seconds. It makes me want to rip my hair out.

Skillshot mages are really starting to die off with the huge amount of mobility creep. Rito pls.

DUDE. WHY NOTAkali Fiora Katarina Ryze ? even Annie counters kalista pretty hard.

Because I am not complaining about how OP Kalista is I am complaining about how hard it is for skillshot mages nowadays. :P

Imagine what short ranged mages had to deal with when long range mages were more common?

Cass vs Xerath for example :)

Hehe I have to admit he has a point.

Accept riot doesn't seem to have any desire to slow down on mobility! Hec, it's accelerating if nothing else.

Punny.

It should be hard.

That's why they are SKILLshots.

Insanity 10121 votes

Of course, but it shouldnt be so hard that they are able to do nothing because insane mobility champs run around and dodge everything.

Welcome to the League of Mobility, it's been around since about 2012.

Riot enjoys concentrated horse shit, it seems.

MrSlowDie7 votes

They made many champs with skill shot so this game will be more skill oriented, but Riot made a straight counter of all that damn skill shot, fuck mobility

OblongOtter5 votes

The next champion to be released will have a passive that gives summoner 4 a 0.5 second cooldown.

qetzel2 votes

Kassadin?

Insanity 1011 votes

Kassadins blink is on a 3 second cooldown at max rank and costs HUGE amount of mana. :P

Saezio1 votes

Errrr idk how long you have to play kassadin, but its on 2 sec CD with 0% cdr and drops down to 1,1 with 45% without ultimate hunter

Jamaree4 votes

Well yeah, they are skillshot based champions, they have always had more trouble with mobility based champions then others, in turn they get different kind of advantages. In Lux and Xerath's cases, obscene hard to counter range, Anivia, just being CC heavy on top of being damage heavy and Vel Koz, don't really know.

Release TwistedFate had a Global Gate on his E

It also Refreshed whenever he used Destiny

Immobile champions are not picked because they are immobile.

That doesn't mean they are not good. I mean, Twisted Fate is still pretty popular in Asian Countries and he has no innate flash or anything of that kind.

While I do agree with the notion that mobility has gotten out of hand and a lot of immobile champs are suffering, there are definitely some very good immobile champs that are just unpopular because they lack mobility and are therefore unforgiving. I think that's a big part of the popularity of mobile champs. They are so much more forgiving when you position poorly. If you lack mobility you just can't get away with mistakes the same way. I also think immobile champs with range are in a different boat than immobile melee champs. The melees are the ones that are really suffering.

Mordekaiser what mobility...

2pudge1cup4 votes

This is what happens when riot devalues point and click abilities because "they no take skillz brah".

Mobility becomes even more at a premium because that is how players can reliably dodge skillshots. It ends up being an arms race solely by mobility and more mobility because it isn't kept in check by point and click.

I played Lux support against Kallista last night. She caused our jungler to rage quit by 10 min and my adc and I both just said fk it by 12 min and gave up bottom. I can't remember the last time I was so pissed in a game. I am done with blinds until her passive gets nerfed.

I played Brand support last night versus Kallista. Admittedly, early laning phase I had trouble landing anything on her. This was my fault in not paying attention to her AS and the last time she AA'd. But, I switched strategies and simply controlled her Annie support, landing easy Ws and Qs and keeping her at half health. It got the the point that I was essentially 1v1ing Annie using my W from enough range that neither Kallista or Annie could do anything about it, then coming in with a Q stun, ignite Annie, mop her up and force Kallista out of lane.

Late game came and I gave the appropriate amount of attention to Kallista's AAs, resulting in me killing her pretty easily.

Xerath how do you think i feel?

Raja Chachki4 votes

I feel your pain. As Ziggs,Kalista was able to dodge almost all of my bombs...it really annoyed me that I became useless once I realized the Kalista could sidestep the COMPLETE explosion radius.

Agidyne2 votes

Thank god skillshot mages are dying out

Most of them are annoying little poke mages that do nothing but push the wave and annoy you with spells.

Please create more Yasuos and less Ziggs and Ahris so mid lane can be more fun.

Insanity 1018 votes

LoL cant there ever be a balance?

Also Ahri doesnt have the same play style as ziggs.

Agidyne2 votes

There is Balance.

Skillshots are easy to hit on immobile champs and hard to hit on mobile ones.

It's balanced that way.

Insanity 1017 votes

The problem is immobile champs are rarely ever picked nowadays (unless you have got someone overtuned like Syndra) so everyone in the match has some sort of blink/dash.

Seriously this mobility creep is getting out of hand. What next? A champion the has a global blink on a 15 sec cd?

There are plenty of champions that destroy Kalista. Maybe stop playing skill shot mages? Its called mid lane not AP Skill shot mid lane. there are other champs that are viable. ex. Talon, Zed, Yasuo, Akali, Azir,. Also is it that hard to sit next to your minions and when Kalista goes up to last hit to predict where she is going and throw your charm there?

Narasimha2 votes

I'm... not sure why Anivia, is on this list. Come level 6, you completely rape her with no need for your Q. R is bigger than her hop distance. Or Vel'koz for that matter. All of his spells are high aoe. She can't jump unless she tries to attack something. Even a single spell hit is going to make her cry.

AMYS GRAVE1 votes

velkoz's skill shots are announced, so she can dodge them with one auto attack. gl hitting her at all with that.

Narasimha1 votes

She can't autoattack mid jump, and she jumps a set distance. And especially early game when her AS is low, its very easy to predict where she's going and punish her for it.

AMYS GRAVE3 votes

you make "predicting where an enemy is going to dash to" sound trivial

Drunk Rummate2 votes

the range on ahri's charm, lux's binding, etc. is longer than kalista's auto attack range. she only gets one dash on the cooldown of her spear outside of auto attack range.

Range doesn't matter if she can dodge your narrow-width ability before it lands literally every time.

Actually the range DOES matter because she doesn't get her hop without attacking and she has the base movespeed of an Ashe

Junkο2 votes

It does not matter. Kalista can hop after using her Q, which is also a skill shot and actually doesn't take abyssaly long time to make Kalista hop early game.

That doesn't explain why range matters.

It doesn't matter what the range of Kalista's opponents abilities are. A ~3000 range Lux ultimate is still going to miss if Kalista is in range of an enemy unit, which she is going to be nearly every moment of the laning phase. If it is a skill shot without a massive AoE, an alert Kalista can dodge it well over 90% of the time.

Junkο2 votes

Please explain to me why Zed can have a 100-0 burst while turret diving you and getting out with just taking 1 turret shot while having insane mobility and 1 skillshot(that is impossible to miss when you ult), but Lux should need to aim all her spells, risk of running out of mana and dying to a turret when trying to 100-0 burst somebody under a turret.

And no this isn't biased, i don't play Lux, i am a Zed main in fact

IlyaK19861 votes

Because Lux is a ranged champion and can hide behind her team in teamfights. Zed isn't.

Junkο1 votes

Yeah it's not like Zed has his shadow that uses his abilities and allows him to damage from a safe range, i truly wonder how he gets through his laning phase without it, oh wait.

Heifstag1 votes

Lux spell for spell does more damage than Zed's does, has more range, and more width. Not to mention the extreme range she has and peeling ability for herself and others makes it easy to dominate team fights without even putting yourself in danger. I've played in tournaments and gone without dying because her range is so abusable.

Direwolfiez1 votes

If that's true then why isn't literally everyone playing Lux? Why isn't Lux pick/ban in LCS? Why isn't she topping the ban picks in soloqueue? Oh, wait, it's because that Zed is about 2x as safe as she is, and other champs like Ori provide more utility than Lux does overall.

Lux wasn't even picked in the LCS, while, if I remember correctly, Zed was picked pretty often, at least when a team couldn't get Orianna.

IlyaK19861 votes

Yes, one shadow is going to keep Zed as safe in a 5v5 as someone who can throw her abilities from across the screen.

Logic.

Junkο1 votes

You don't get it. Zed jumps into your team, does his entire combo, his team engages with him and now whenever he is in danger he can just R out in that 6 seconds or he Rs out as soon as he does his combo, now his shadow is in the middle of your team dealing damage while you can't touch Zed, not to mention your ADC/APC is most likely dead.

Also you really underestimate the insane mobility Zed has with his shadows.

doubleguac2 votes

If you think Kalista is bad for skill shot mages, try playing a dashless melee.

At least a skill shot mage can theoretically damage her if she screws up.

Seriously though, I feel your pain. Mobility creep is getting way out of hand. When he was released, Yasuo was the first champion with mobility completely ungated by cooldowns or resource costs--as long as there were more creeps/champs around, he had more dashes.

That was bad enough.

Now they release Kalista, who has infinite mobility completely ungated by anything as long as she's auto attacking.

If you're playing a melee, and you don't have enough MS to catch her through her dashes, you will never be able to touch her. As in--literally never, unless you have flash up and she doesn't. There's no cooldowns to wait out, she can't run out of a resource and stop dashing. Kalista is theoretically completely invulnerable to an all-melee champion like volibear. And that sucks.

WereScrib2 votes

Gonna disagree about Anivia. Anivia's burst radius is so large on her Q she can usually catch Kalista, and Anivia out ranges her for AAs, she actually wins lane against her (not that a sane Kalista would go mid, but Anivia support makes Kalista MISERABLE)

Moreover you can ult+E for instant damage and not worry about Q. Also, Anivia's ult actually slows Kalista's movement because its an attack speed reducer.

Insanity 1013 votes

So the solution is to make cc point and click?

Well, I'm not exactly against it but doesn't that go against Ritos skillshot policy?

But then again, they are making that policy kinda stupid by making champions that have shit loads of mobility...

League of Potato2 votes

Kalista Azir Gnar Braum Velkoz out of the last 5 champs (new champions) 4 of 5 have some form of dash (or hop) so yea it's getting a bit ridiculous
