@Riot: If you were to add E.T.C.'s Mosh Pit on a Champion, how would you balance it?

E.T.C.

Mosh Pit
After 0.75 seconds, channel to stun nearby enemies for 4 seconds. Long cooldown.

That's the version used in Heroes of the Storm, and it is a damn powerful ultimate. That said, it has a lot of counterplay: you can dodge it during his wind-up, or you can interrupt him (of which there are many ways to do so). It also doesn't do any damage of its own, so E.T.C. needs teammates to capitalize on the CC effect. Lastly, it's pretty highly telegraphed when E.T.C. is going to use it, giving the enemy ample opportunity to counter it.

Now imagine if we had a tank Champion who, after a short wind-up, could channel to suppress all nearby enemy Champions for a short time. Would that be a total "fuck no" idea? Or would it be acceptable if it had enough drawbacks (cooldown, short range, easily interrupted) and lasted, say, 2.5 seconds max?

Galio's old ult achieved a similar effect with its AoE taunt, and Amumu's instant entangle ult also capitalizes on very similar gameplay, so I'd say adding that kind of effect wouldn't be all that much of an impossibility. The fact that the effect is a channel would also add more counterplay than Amumu's ult, so it might even be a good way to update his ult in a manner that gave him more interactivity. The OP mentions this already, but I also think the effect would need a much shorter duration, since while 4 seconds is enough for some characters to survive fights in HotS, it's often the entire duration of fights in League at this point.

Definitely a shorter duration for League, especially since crits are OP.

Also, compared to old Galio or Amumu, E.T.C.'s got that wind-up to worry about, giving the enemy even more ability to dodge it.

Amumu

Not a true stun.

Mobility is less in HotS so it is technically harder to dodge the ETC ultimate on multiple people and since ETC himself has LIMITED mobility it is more "fair" since he himself should rarely get into a situation where he is literally ON TOP OF multiple people at a time without team help. If ETC transitioned directly over to League he would be arguably a worse Alistar and a worse Amumu. Amumu can more reliably hit multiple people since he has the mobility to do so and it is instant cast and Alistar simply has the instant WQ. If ETC ever wanted to ult everyone would just flash out unless it was wombo comboed but at that point I would STILL rather have someone like Malphite start a wombo.

An AoE ultimate that definitely shouldn't ever make it to League would be Faceless Void from DotA.

Ahh yes, that whole "Time Stop" bullshit. Zeratul gets that with Void Prison.

While the windup is quite a downside, WTC has rather good mobillity for HotS and his own stun to setup the ult. it's not that hard to get a multiman mosh. The tricky part is getting them with enough follow-up around aswell as catching all that can interupt it.

in the current state of the game, it would be prettymuch a no go, in older days it could have worked on a tank support with somewhat reduced numbers(2/2.5/3sec) The channle would need to be shorter aswell, given how much mobillity we have in league compared to HotS, especially flash...

On a laner, raw utillity ults tend to be a nightmare for balance(Ryze Taliyah ),
