Riot, I'm fine with auto-fill because I'm a Support one-trick. This isn't auto-fill, it's *lazy*.

Here's the problem: I queue primarily as Support, secondarily as Jungle, and... then when I get in-game I either get a "Support" that has 25 CS more than the ADC all game, or I get a "Support" who got autofilled to the role. To Support. When I am right the fuck there.

Riot, wasn't the autofill system created because of a lack of Support players? Don't you WANT to pleasure us in any small way so we can make your game a better place through wards, heals, blinds, actual genuine support?

Currently, the only "pleasure" I get when autofilled Top, Mid, Jg, or even ADC is seeing how other people play Support, and learning from it... but oftentimes I don't get any of that and just an underfarmed, underfed, pissed-off ADC.

Not only is the system operating on the lack of supports, but also the overabundance of other roles. If 20 people are queued Mid/Top and another 20 queued Bot/Mid, that leaves Jungle and Support. If you're half queued as jungle, and the system can find someone to queue in autofill, it will place you into one of your desired roles and fill support. The autofill system is most likely engineered to prioritize support fill over jungle fill.

But the problem is I queued as Support/Jungle, and got Jungle. And someone got filled to Support for no reason whatsoever, it seems.

It was probably a case of the game waiting on more jungle players than support players at the time. So when it saw someone willing to jg it stuck you there and then looked for a support player.

The way it seems to work is it grabs the people it can find, then goes through the remaining roles needed to be filled. It seems to go through these in the order of top>jg>mid>adc>sup filling in people as it needs to. If it needs a jg and there is no one directly queued as it then it will look for secondaries, after that it goes to support and since no one who wasn't already put into a spot was queued as support it autofilled someone.

The system could definitely be improved but the issue is processing power and time. Doing a basic run through like that is pretty simple. Needing to then go back through and analyze everyone, try to rearrange them, then go through the queued up players again to check for a better combination after making a change to the initial ordering it put players in starts to rapidly get out of hand, especially when it is looking through tons of players and needing to check the two roles they queued up as, their mmr, whether they have autofill protection, etc. every single instance.

The way it currently matches works fine 95% of the time, and most of the situations like the one you described can easily be solved by trading roles. That means it is incredibly unlikely that an issue will appear that can't be solved by trading, and that means the system is doing it's job of comparing and matching hundreds of players together in a timely fashion.

Do what I do and queue support/mid. Not only is it extremely rare you'll get mid, but If you do, someone is always willing to trade.

Even then, mid is probably the easiest role for a support main to handle as you could just go Lux Morgana Zilean who get played all the time as support anyways.
