Armor item issues - Cloth Armor and Ninja Tabi
I have two points to make here; first is regarding
. Nobody likes this basic item! On top of that, many finished armor items are too difficult to actually finish in this meta for non-tanks, leaving no one else with the ability to actually frontline and the game becomes a clown fiesta and so on and so forth.
If
is going to stick around, make it cost significantly less than 300g as no one wants to invest that much gold in armor as either a jungler or solo laner when they otherwise wouldn't at all.
giving 10 armor, costing 200g and selling for 140~145 would be immensely more practical for these roles, both in and out of laning phase. In this fast-paced meta, not being able to invest your gold into something that matters at any point is a bane and champions that make very good use of physical damage are abusing that fact - because of this the basic armor item deserves to be easier to access.
In comparison,
is still bought a lot as a form of sustain for solo laners with relevant HP regen. It sells for 105 in case they don't build
; unfortunately it does very little to help against all-ins and turret pressure unlike armor. Being able to invest in any amount of armor, even temporarily would be a boon for all melee laners. Botlane marksmen would also love to be able to drop their change into a
vs. Pyke and other assassins so that they don't get nuked as easily.
If accessing armor was cheaper, many more laners could access it and many more buildpaths would be made comfortable - in fact, solo laners could start with it as they once did many seasons ago.
Why not? On top of that it would be easy to add a single Cloth Armor to the more expensive armor+hp items' buildpaths, lowering their cost to finish to 700-900g instead of up to a whopping 1.1k like poor
.
is the crux of my other point. Just buy these and you're "set" on armor for the whole game! These are currently the most boring, wishy-washy boots as they water down AD carry builds because it's the only form of armor they can justify getting and keep melees from investing in items involving armor whatsoever. On top of that, they discourage actual defensive items from being bought thanks to their AA resistance. Tabi is a better tank item than tank items, even for non-tanks.
Tank items would be much easier to buff if
were either heavily nerfed or even removed altogether, and right now tank items could use a little love. Tabi costing 900g and giving way less as a result would clear the path for better tank items and a much healthier meta. Removing Tabi, on the other hand, would cause defensive HP items become worse purchases while armor+HP items wouldn't come close to replacing Tabi regarding anti-AD potency, leaving room to buff items from both of these categories. Either way would work, and making armor easier to purchase in the first place would help play into those solutions as well.
