Something people forget when talking about Hexdrinker and Seekers:

Unlike AD assassins, AP champs need mana and they need cdr more than AD assassins so building Seekers hurts their build path a lot more than just a bit less AD and no lethality early from Hexdrinker.
And Hexdrinker is a better item anyway even if mages didnt need mana because Seekers needs to stack like 2-3+ waves before even reaching 100% cost efficiency, Hexdrinker already has over 100% when you buy it, **without **the HP from its passive.

Sure mages are still dominating mid for other reasons, but that doesnt really change the fact that Hexdrinker is.. kind of busted for a cheap component item. Melee AP assassins arent played at all either (except Kassadino because tanky anti-mage assassin and stuff), Talon and Zed are at least played a bit with the lethality changes.

Dumbass comparison. AD assassins mostly need mana and CDR too, zhonyas build path with seekers has CDR built into it, hexdrinker has a CD where seekers is always relevant, AD assassins are losing out on lethality for opting for hexdrinker

Sure zed needs mana hehe and Talon has a lot of mana in his build too kappa

sorry but what? not every AP champion needs mana, in fact very few champions actively need mana. Melee AP assassins aren't played because hexdrinker is a thing, they aren't played because everyone and their mother makes their early game hell

There is a reason everyone rushes Morello 400 mana and lost chapter is a big part of that reason my friend xd

Unless your definition of "needing mana" is "building item 3165 item 3070 item 3027 because mana is the only thing holding you back "

yeah, the 100 AP, grievous wounds has nothing to do with it. The 20% CDR also has nothing to do with it. Morello's is rushed because it's a relatively cheap item overloaded with stats and passives. Even champions that do not care about mana will rush it since Morello's is stupidly good on so many champions it's not even funny

It is good but mana and the early lost chapter is a big reason, yeah. You wont wave clear and stay in lane for long without a mana item first on many mages

you won't be waveclearing for long if you upgrade your last chapter into morello's either. Since you lose Lost chapter's passive. The only way Morello's gives you mana back is if you get a kill or assist on an enemy champion which you shouldn't be relying on. You can sit on lost chapter if you really need the mana regen and even then i would just say to you get RotA or tear and you will have more than enough mana. People would kill to have morello's lose the mana component, it'll make a broken item even cheaper and will be opened to a lot more champions.

400 mana is still 5 extra Syndra Qs and 6 extra Ziggs Qs, which should be close to oneshotting the caster minions at that point.

But yeah if you buy Seekers, you cant get Lost Chapter early. AD champs dont lose anything comparable for spending 950 gold after their long sword start to gimp your all in, all they lose is... 5 AD, 10 lethality / cdr from item 3133 and maybe the meh item 3134 passive.

I always thought hexdrinker was a balancing valve for melee vs. mages in lane. For like years. It's strong, sure. Especially annoying when a midlaning ad starts longsword and rush it with good cs by level 5 (~35-40 cs with very good cs). Until recently not many complained about it. DShield has come to be an option now. Puts off the hexdrinker buy a slight bit but offers sustain synergy for a sturdy but not super aggressive build. IMO DShield is too good atm particularly for ranged too.

Riot loves to balance the game to be about who can be the biggest wuss and win letting objects with soft edges and handholding "teamwurk" being the strongest for 3 times as long. I get why but its grown old and repetitive enough it needs to be called out. Don't get me wrong I'm a big offender of exploiting that constant meta game Riot lets sit.

It's great we have middle tier items that do small cool things. Need more of them like that.

The full maw imo is kinda in an underwhelming placeholder spot. With small adjustments I think both items can feel better for everyone. IMO I'd trade the passive MR for slightly more AD and a bigger shield. That way it feels like a more pronounced upgrade, but is more susceptible to poke and other whittling damage. As it is now it doesn't fit very nicely into fighter builds and carries feel better off with mercurials even when burst is the threat. The only reason it's bought is because of hexdrinker being that strong to snatch.

Well at least they made it so you can't start Dshield + 2 potions now Xd
