Let's Talk About Elise for a Second...

Alright, the FNC C9 game today was absolutely disgusting. Good job FNC, you guys were in killer form, but that Elise pressure was ridiculous and ganking should not be nearly that easy especially when you're fighting pro teams. Look, the problem is the ability of Elise to just DIVE whoever she wants and get out with no problem. There should definitely be some inherent risk to turret dives especially in the first seven minutes of the game, but pros have just learned to play around it so well that it ends up not being at all exciting.

If I see someone dive a turret, there's no suspense there. They're going to get a kill and 9 times out of 10 they're not going to lose a single player for it. If a strategy is guaranteed to get you kills then Riot needs to balance around that strategy.

So, for Elise. I don't want to see Elise get hit because Elise is one of those champions who is either ridiculously strong or completely trash, and she was trash for pretty much all of Season 5 until very recently, so to avoid people losing out on their main I just propose a very simple solution to this problem: Make Rappel only castable on targets. It still retains its power as a gap closer, and rewards an Elise who is warding her jungle by serving as an escape across walls still if she has a camp to jump to, but she would no longer be able to use it AFTER she kills someone to simply dodge turret aggro. Tower dives are cool and flashy and fun to watch but when teams are just getting dumpstered based on who picks Elise with no way to play around it, not because they aren't warding or working together as a team but because they are just gaming the AIs Riot has in place to defend people against early kill pressure, then that needs to be addressed.

I kinda agree, but more so because turrets are a joke, and they're only getting worse with time. They don't have the impact they used to because they are predictable and easily exploited. Elise is supposed to be the diving queen, but even so it's pathetic how simple the dives look because the turret is completely useless

I agree with Riot's call on inhib and nexus turrets being more about players defending them than them defending players, but at four minutes into the game that outer tower is all that's keeping me safe in lane, if staying next to it isn't going to prevent the enemy team from diving me without consequence then there's no real game left. It's just "Is the enemy jungler on my side of the map? Recall or feed".

That took more than a second to read. Anyway, I do agree with you.

Outer turrets should just be able to target untargetable units. There is no reason not to.

Controlling what she can rappel to vastly hurts her. Rappel is an escape, gap closer, grants vision, and because of Riot's poor decisions it is also a damage/heal amplifier. It is crucial that her rappel not be gimped if she wants to remain competitive.

How does making it so she can't just Rappel for the untargetable change any of that? I'm just saying you should have to have a target and click on that target at the start of the cast. Elise has everything you just mentioned on one ability, she doesn't need a random Fizz E to go along with it and having an emergency "DON'T HIT ME WHILE I TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHERE TO GO" button isn't conducive to the kind of concise, coordinated game that competitive entails. 90% of the time you're Rappeling to a target anyway, unless you're trying to be a bitch and get a Zhonya's active for free, which again, Elise shouldn't be able to do. The only time it's used in competitive is to dodge turret aggro.

I thought you mentioned having it only castable on enemy champions. My bad.

Lol wut? No way that would slow her clear time down to a crawl.

They shouldn't remove her ability to cast it whenever she wants. What kind of spider would she be if she isn't able to utilize her web at will?

Like what other comments have said. The turrets are the real problem, hopefully they update them in preseason.
