Looking for Potential Interesting Off-Meta Supports to Try with Stoneborn Pact

Just noticed that Support Ashe is doing quite well lately in Korea using Stoneborn Pact - sort of taking Miss Fortune's Ult to a more repetitive level given her Volley ability. Starting to think that Stoneborn Pact might really open things up for those of us who are creative thinkers and experimenters.

So far, I've been thinking that Kog'maw with Runaan's and maybe Frozen Mallet with play off of his E might work. Heck, even Camille might work.

Which potential off-meta supports can you think of that might be able to take advantage of their slowing ability to be viable as a support in lane?

off meta support? sounds like you're talking about champions that can't even be supports. in what world can kogmaw be a support? Ashe i can somewhat understand, even camille but kogmaw? lol

Not as crazy or trollish as you might think.

A Kogmaw support would be no worse than Brand or Miss Fortune - as long as he has Pact. Plus I think he could be a counter-pick in some situations - say against a Zyra, where you have to keep your distance.

The Q reduces Armor and MR - setting up your ADC in lane for some nice pokes. The slow-inducing E covers a wide area - any one hitting that ol' slime trail are perfect targets for allies - and that slow invokes the Stoneborn Pact. Plus that the Q, E and R scale off of AP - perfect for using a Spellthief to start things off. (Plus the Ardent Censer ironically bumps up heals from Stoneborn.)

Besides nothing wrong with considering off-meta picks as long as you actually play as a support - heck, in Korea there's Elise and Sejuani supports (and both have good records).

One more footnote: if you do see any interesting ideas in this thread and fill as support, then please play it as such. There is nothing worse than those players who have filled in as support with no intention of warding, etc. Yes, I see you, bad Annie and Lux mains (not the good ones though ;) ).

Brand has CC though, and high damage scaling... kog needs cs to be relevant and has zero cc......

miss fortune support only came about because of malzahar which is the reason why mf support was picked because her e or whatever instantly killed his voidlings while providing a slow, plus her ult is game chaning. i can't think of a single reason why you would pick a kog support.

Trundle synergizes very well with Stoneborn Pact.

Good idea.

He's not entirely off-meta - given that he has been appearing on-and-off in botlane for the past few years in LCS - but I think you are absolutely right about your choice. Have yet to try it, but at least two of his skills should proc Stoneborn.

Gangplank's a pretty good choice for Stoneborn Support, and here's a few reasons why:

Passive shreds pretty much anything - Tanks, squishies, towers, etc. Iceborn Gauntlet is a solid defensive that gives GP even more ways to proc Stoneborn Pact Cross-map ult slows, also proccing Stoneborn Barrels proc Stoneborn, as well as disorienting enemy Champions Remove Scurvy gives him a ton of personal sustain and CC-ignorance

But, there are also a few cons, which are the following:

Managing Barrels for shredding or slowing Managing ult casts Playing Support impedes Silver Serpent gains, limiting your ult Barrels have a moderate skill floor + cieling Gangplank is melee and is also fairly squishy early on
