Some guy called me bad but wouldn't really explain why

Just had a ranked game where our jungler deliberately fed the entire game and we lost horribly, but that's not the point. The person I was laning against claimed to be a past season(s) platinum. He played twitch, I played vayne. I harassed him in lane and, to a slight extent, denied farm. I was only able to kill their support once in the game during the laning phase.

After the loss and my bitching to everyone about how my efforts meant nothing, he mentioned that I wasn't laning well at all. Something about procing my Q and trading when my support initiated. Pretty much the entire laning phase I had him backed up and hurt more than me because I harassed him a ton, and I outfarmed him. But after the game, he said that my outfarming him meant nothing and that I need to wait for my support to do something before I attacked at all. Does that make any sense to anyone? It sure doesn't to me. But of course, since he claimed to be in a higher division in seasons passed, I somewhat believed him. Could someone explain this to me? I thought I was supposed to harass the other adc in the lane and deny them farm if at all possible, not sit there and hope my support decides to do something.

Out farming and out harassing means nothing if you don't utilize your lead. If you're ahead because of your farm, you should be able to quickly take out that first turret and out-trade them in 2 v 2 fights. You only killed the support once during laning phase so that means you weren't that far ahead.

I realize that, but on the other side, he never said he laned poorly. They lost their turret first. Though at that point our jungler had fed enough to get the enemy team several turrets by then. I just want to know what he meant when he said my mechanics in lane weren't very good.

Wait, I thought the adc was only supposed to hit minions, and it was up to the support to do any harass at all and do all the work before setting up the kill.

That's pretty much what this guy, who claimed to be plat last season (while I am bronze 2 now and bronze 1 last season), said to me. It didn't make much sense.

It reminds me of "supports don't get kills," "don't take my farm or kills," "if you take one more cs I'll afk," and my favorite, "why should we listen to you, you're 0/4..." when I'm actually 0/4/999.

It doesn't matter your division, there's always going to be players who treat supports like servants and the adc isn't supposed to do any work except last hitting minions and champions (and by that, I mean they expect the support to 100-1 them so they can autoattack once for the kill).

It's pretty stupid.

If your taking farm as the support when the adc is in lane. Then you deserve to be bitched at...

Some supports use skillshots, and may accidentally take cs unintentionally. One or two cs is nothing worth being bitched at for. And if it is, does that not give the support the same right to bitch if the adc misses a single minion? It's not very fair, is it.

ANd if the support is trying to use relic shield on a cannon minion, and the adc lasthits it anyway, does that mean the adc deserves to get bitched at too?

Now, a support taking doran's ring and farming... then that's deliberate and a problem.

OK... that guy's account made it to Diamond last season. He's got the summoners icon for solo queue Diamond and everything. He claims he was Platinum? What's more, he's in Bronze 1?

I'd take every piece of advice that guy gave with a pound of salt. There's no way that a Platinum/Diamond level player drops to Bronze. What's more, if LOLKing is right, They were in Silver and they dropped to Bronze 1.

Edit: Yeah, 98% confident this guy was boosted last season. He hasn't touched his "main" at all this season.
